I think it all comes down to pitching matchups...who do the Brewers have going for them versus who Atlanta has?

I'll give Garner some major props again in managing this type of game... he really excels at it.

I feel like I've aged about 10 years in the last 5 hours. Wow, talk about stress.

I'd kind of like a rainout tomorrow. On the one hand, it would mess up our rotation for a Tuesday one-game playoff. However, I'm really concerned about the Braves, and if the game were rained out, it could be Oswalt, Clemens and Pettitte against Atlanta.

Anyone else not shaving with me? ;)

Can't argue with Davis, Capuano, and Sheets. Just hope they keep playing and haven't checked out.

The Braves will be tough and want nothing but revenge for the last 2 years.

Wow. What a game. I woke up around 7:30 from a nap and we were down 6-1. After Lamb's hit, you just had the feeling Berkman had to homer or it could have been the end. I think it was first pitch, too. He was all overrrr it. Unfortunate that the Pads couldn't hang on, but if the Cards win out, kudos to them. Here's to The Beast!

40% chance of rain tommorrow with occasional rain showers ... they will get the game in. I just hope it doesn't interrupt the game too much which would not be good for Roy

did we have 2 sacrifice flies tonight a night after having a sacrifice fly and driving a runner in from 3rd on a grounder? i think that matched our sacrifice fly total from the first 156 games this season. when did this team learn situational hitting?

and i would just like to add that i am not very fond of mr. albert pujols.

i even mentioned to my roommate when SD went up 2-1 that they still probably had to deal with pujols and that it always seemed like he came up at the end and somehow there were always people on. unfortunately what i feared played out and pujols damn near hit one out of the stadium.

Yep. I know it's just the Pirates, but it seems like he's really come around. Ever since he started putting Scott in everyday, and stopped believing Lidge was going to rebound as closer, he has looked good.

The double walk call was gutsy, and even if it went bad I wouldn't have hated it. You just don't let their best hitters beat you. On top of that, it puts a huge amount of pressure on Nady ... especially when Wheeler delivers a first pitch strike.

Tomorrow Astros must win with Oswalt and St. L must roll over to the Padres.. This is the opportunity.. At that point I would say Astros and St. L would be a 50-50 Toss up! =D

You ain't lyin dude. Atlanta's pi$$ed about losing the division in the first place....AND not making the postseason....and the Astros are just the team they'd like to take it out on.

That being said, ALL SYSTEMS GO!!! :D

I'm not a big fan of Garner, but he has been doing a good job during the streak. He seems to do better when he doesn't worry about tommorrow and has 30 players to work with.

St. Louis plays the Brewers tonight and then 3 more games after that. Tonight it is Doug Davis against Marquis ... both pitchers have struggled lately so it should be a toss-up. The best chances for the Brewers in this series are when they have Capuano and Sheets out there, so hopefully they can at the least pull a split in this series

I think Garner has been doing well recently, but I don't back down one bit from my criticism earlier in the season because all the things I criticized him for back then are things he is not doing right now.

But you know what....if we had lost the game...I bet folks would have been calling for his head on a platter because of this move. This thread would have been 2-3 pages longer because of people threatening Garner's life. :)
