You must be Jose Lima's agent... belive me, that entire 2000 Astros pitching staff was completely clueless coming from the Astrodome. There is a learning curve, and good pitching will still always thrive... but guys who have relied on fly ball outs, or pitch towards contact in general, are prone for danger at MMP. Its all a moot point... there are no "stellar" FA pitchers that the Astros could target/afford (besides Pettite/Clemens)... they'll look to sign a veteran to replace Backe's spot in the rotation, but he won't be expected to put up sub 3 era's.
Are the Pirates in a must win game? Bringing out their stellar lefty bullpen pitcher this early, to match up with the Astros lefty-laden lineup... sounds fishy.
How many other people are following the cards game with some sort of game cast? (mlb gameday, cbs sportsline, espn etc. )
Cameron has 1st and 3rd, only 1 out... "be professional, Padres." EDIT: it worked... sac fly... 2-1 Pads.
I really wish we could tack on a fes more runs so we wouldn't have to use Qualls or Wheeler. Those arms need a night of rest.
Pettite's at 75 pitches... but there's a chance that him, Roy, and Roger will be required to come back at short rest before the season's over. He'll probably come out to start the 7th, but look for Garner to pull him if things get hairy. Nieve's next... he should stay in as long as his stuff looks good. Springer is also available tonight. Lidge/Qualls/Wheeler have all been used extensively, but you have to expect one of them is able to go if needed.
