If you want to argue that there is a skew, that's fine. But I could still say that it's balanced out by the lack of PT a bench player gets. In any case, we know that at Everett sucks at the plate. All I'm asking is, why can't we see what Bruntlett could do over the course of a few weeks as the starter? What do we have to lose? We're already in the hole.
We're two games out of the playoffs - we could be in a far deeper hole. The young pitching is struggling as-is. We don't need to make the defense potentially that much worse and put our young starters under even more pressure.
I wonder where the St. Louis Cardinals vs the Houston Astros thread is? I tried to make one, but it says that I have insuficient proveleges. I think that the Astros will win today. I also think that JAson Lane will hit a homerun finally I hope with the time that Phil Garner is giving to the Astros players will help a whole lot. Jason Lane will definitely come out of his funck today.
People want Bruntlett at shortstop? Do people now understand the importance of defense at shortstop? We have the best defensive shortstop in the majors, and according to stats it's not even close. Even if Bruntlett was a better hitter than Everett, (no evidence to support that), I would rather have Everett's defense at SS. If you want to add production, try the corner outfield positions.
i agree. i'd throw burke out way more in the corner spots. but i wouldn't jack with everett. let him be him out there.
Classic backup-quarterback syndrome. "Why doesn't Cody Carlson start?" Eric Bruntlett is a nice utility man, a valuable player in his own way, and a career .678 OPS hitter in the MINOR leagues.
