Man...we lucked out. That wasn't exactly an easy play on Hidalgo's long fly, but certainly the guy had a chance to catch it. I couldn't believe how long that ball carried off his bat as it looked like a lazy fly at first. Oh well, GO STROS!
Thank you. I also felt that way tonite when Hidalgo came up for Merced. He K'd. Then drove home the three (with timely help from the right fielder). I believe Jimi is minimizing later moves with marginal moves early. He's winning, while playing the Buccos. What happens when he plays real teams? (See Philly, last week-end?)
wow. Berkie is turning up the heat. Astros are just getting started. This recent surge is exciting...
It sure is fun -- taking care of biz against lesser lights. Maybe it will energize the 'stros for contests against big league teams.
Xiki, just for comparison's sake, here's the record of the NL's .500 or better teams against each other: Atl: 16-7 SF: 12-11 Mon: 11-12 ChC: 9-6 Phil: 11-8 Hou: 8-12 Cin: 14-13 LA: 6-12 Stl: 6-12 All of which, of course, means absolutely nothing this early in the season. The only really interesting things gleaned from the numbers above are how few games the Cubbies have played against good teams, and how dominant ATL has been so far, even after a bad start. Historically, the formula for getting to the playoffs is play .500 against the good teams, beat the tar outta the bad ones, and you're in. The next 2 weeks will be HUGE for the Stros, well, as HUGE as games in May/June can be, it'll be great if they do well, but it's not the end of the world if they don't. Starting this Friday they play 16 games in 17 days against the Phils (3 home), Cards (3 home, 4 road), and Cubbies (3 home, 3 road). Let's revisit this in a couple of weeks.
Good post, thanks. Let;s revisit, true. I hope the 'stros make me eat my preseason words. They will -- if they keep playing Pitt.
If he is convicted that is when the 'stros should have dumped him. Or at least after his legal process was completed.
why?? so we could keep batting him in the 8th hole at .240? i think the adam everett experience has been a bit better than the julio lugo experience so far! they knew something..they had some pretty positive proof..or they knew he had done this before. they pulled the trigger quickly. they're VERY image conscious.
They need not have kept him on the active roster. They should not have been judge and jury. Is he guilty? I assume so, but that is just an assumption. He is entitled to more, under law and as a member of the team. Sorry, dump his poor playing (1.575mil) butt but don't dump out at the 1st (public) allegation.
i agree with what piniella said about lugo, that everyone makes mistakes, and if he lets the past go and and doesnt do it again, he deserves another chance
