Astros have the best pitching staff in baseball -- even if JV only finishes being a 4.00 ERA guy. Once Tucker returns Sept ~9th, they'll be the best team. There will be a 12-5 type stretch to finish the regular season. Playoff opponents will have no answer when Blanco/Arrighetti throw multi-innings from the bullpen while the Big 4 rests until the next game. The DYNASTY continues.
Should also be noted that only 1 out of his 3 HR’s today would have been a no-doubter out at MMP (the first one, opposite field). 2nd one barely gets out here (hardest hit ball of the day, a rope, bullpen fence higher in RCF). 3rd one would not have been a HR here. Obviously Yordan has power to all fields, but pitchers are doing their best to try and get him out (or just trying to nibble and let him get himself out). Sometimes he misses the mistakes. Sometimes he crushes balls nobody else would be close to hitting (let alone hitting HR’s with). And while MMP is certainly favorable to pull hitters… it gets tougher to try and muscle out pitchers pitches everywhere except LF.
Could't watch game live and just now stopped watching. My mouth is on the floor. -I keep underestimating Astros Champion rebound ability from day to the next. Unreal. Sorry boys for doubting you once again. -The smile on Yordan's face when he's raking. Humble down to earth guy but he's channeling "this is so easy" vibes. -I was't impressed by Spencers stuff and control at start of the season but wow. I love this guy. Everyone who has helped Hunter & Spencer to this unreal transformation during hugely draining and tough season deserve highest praise -Thought Chas was send down already. Maybe team wanted to signal "you are still a Astro". Great to see joy in Jake's face when Chas homered. I think the locker room / team spirit is in good place -What I worry is one more great start from Hunter and Spencer and there will be some manifactured sticky stuff suspension trying kill Astros. Other teams get to wash they hands and Astros & Mets (Mandfred trying punish Mets for spending) get suspensions right away. This would be followed by the narrative "oh thats why they suddenly got good and oh well we knew who Astros really are". Just have a bad feeling league will try something watching this bs umpiring all season. Great win!!! Fk Im just beaming still .
Chas got sent down after the game. At the time, Heyward wasn't signed yet due to waiting on his physical. I guess he passed since Chas went down. With reports, we all knew it was happening but unfortunate it was after he hit a hr. Like Montero, I hope he kills it in Sugarland and regains his confidence.
In a 3 game wild card set... it gets complicated in a hurry. Considering how wr are trying to limit innings, getting a bye matter more than usual.
Astros pitching has the lowest expected wOBA of any team so far for August at .283. Also, even though they haven't hit that well this month, Astros batting is still 8th in the league in xwOBA for August as well. Getting a healthy Tucker back (praying that happens sooner than later) should help a lot in that regard as he was by far the team's best player before his injury. Although the record won't reflect it, this could be the best team the Astros have fielded entering the post-season since 2019. Imagine a lineup with Altuve/Yordan/Tucker/Bregman/Diaz/Caratini/Pena/Whitcomb/Meyers for the post-season coupled with their deep pitching staff. That is stout as ****, and would have probably won the World Series last year with how things played out.
I feel pretty good about the pitching staff right now but that line up desperately needs some length. We absolutely cannot afford for any of the main dudes to miss any time right now and desperately need Tucker back. I really, really hope we get some good news shortly about Tucker getting a rehab assignment.
Just watched DeRosa break down Yordans swing mechanics. It’s amazing how disciplined he is. DeRosa is so good, I could listen to him all day.
Watching Phillies broadcast last night, highlights: ......will see them in the World Series again How does Spaghetti have a 5 ERA?!?!?!?!? Hometown Chas McCormick Bregman HBP after Yordan homers.... retaliation!?!?!?!?
Quick question..does anyone have Amy experience with adding SpaceCity network on xfinity? I know you can't add it on YouTube TV. Any help is appreciated
It didn't. I have an extremely basic package with them. It's offered but it's an add on to the monthly price. Not sure how much as basic Google didn't tell me much and the customer service line seemed like a waste of time. How is Fobu assuming you live in Houston
Oh that's interesting. My mom has Direct TV and it's not included I don't think in the base package either. Fubo is pretty solid. My sister and I split the $105/$106 a month. Hence our experiment with DEFINITELY legal IPTV. to see if it can be a FUBO replacement. Yep, we are in Houston as well.
The HBP to Bregman was hand slip slider to Bregman Helmet. It was a accident. Garrett Stubbs former Astro now Phillie Catcher got concerned after Bregman got hit.
ERA by month: April 10.97 May 4.36 June 5.06 July 5.33 August 1.95 https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/4726080 Its easy to forget that he wasn't very good until this month. His current season era is 4.63 btw.
IIRC, either Fubo or DirecTV will require you to subscribe to a sports package to get the Houston Sports channel. Neither carry it standard. I could be wrong.
