He got 2 outs, struck out one of them, and gave up a seeing eye single up the middle to Castellanos. Yes, he gave up a double to Harper. It’s a tough lineup to navigate and any of the remaining starters could get lit up (or dominate them) for the rest of the series, so I get trying to push here. I’m not asking any manager to micro-manage games in the 5th or 6th inning… but Blanco wasn’t exactly “laboring”, and still was a seeing eye single away from a QS, while keeping the bullpen semi fresh since Neris only needed for 1 out. I also wouldn’t manage this game as if 2-1 is expected…. Frankly, i’m thrilled it’s still 2-2 (for the time being).
I don’t think he meant to throw it there but that was literally the perfect pitch. It followed the same tunnel as those sliders he laid off on.
