Give Yanier/Caratini/Whitcomb time at 1B in addition to C. I would put Whitcomb in LF and leave him there, and after Tucker makes it back Whitcomb would be the plays all over the place utility guy in addition to platooning in LF with Gamel.
You see, when you go to Angelo’s Pizzeria, you and the wife split a cheesesteak there and then take a cheese pie and some cannoli’s back to the room. Then it gets kinda crazy.
I have no problem with them experimenting at this juncture of the season. Still more than a month left. They have a cushion. They have enough time to lose that cushion, recover, regain the cushion… or just continue to go on the trajectory of increasing the lead. I don’t think they’re going to exhaust themselves to try and get one of the top 2 seeds (unlikely attainable while they’re still behind 5 teams in the overall standings). Build in rest, get healthy all around, keep the elite pitching elite, and get hot for the playoffs (even if you have to play an additional short series).
As is Blanco still has a quality start if he can get through this inning. Offense has to score more than 2 runs anyway to expect to win this game.
