That should've been no more than a double to a slow player like Ibanez. Bourn works hard to cut it off but muffs it then Sanchez drops the throw.
You really think Sanchez was gonna throw him out? I don't, but its all good 'stros still have the lead. Come on Chris
You didn't answer my question. Who would you rather have though? State a name. CJ? No, gotta have at least one good run producer. Pence? We tried that, and again have to have a run producer. Q? Good lord no. Michaels? He has power, better to have him in the 6th-7th spot. Tommy? Tonight I would have said yes just because we're facing a lefty. However Sanchez is hitting around .270, more than we can say for half of our players.
Sanchez isn't an ideal 2-hole hitter but we don't have many options, esp. with Kepp out. Kepp really isn't an ideal 2-hole either. This is the description of the prototypical 2-hole hitter from Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batting_order_(baseball) To summarize: -lefty -good bunter -good speed, baserunning skills -avoids GIDPs (speed helps)
The point is that that shouldn't have been a 2B given Ibanez' lack of speed. No, I don't think Sanchez could have gotten him, particularly with his lack of arm. He had trouble throwing to first on routine plays when he was at SS.
Ibanez was half way to 3rd base when Sanchez dropped the ball. Id rather have Tommy be the cut-off man on that play thought. ****!!!!!
