Wandy threw 2 straight borderline pitches that showed up as strikes on TV. Both were called balls. Sanchez and CJ miss an opportunity to catch a foul pop. Communication issues or something. I think it was on Sanchez to call him off and make the play.
he isn't under contract after the season. can't trade him. he's probably one of the top 8 leftys in the majors, and he's proved over the last 3 seasons that he's legit. 31 isn't that old for a pitcher, myers is only a year younger. if you want to maintain hope of this honeymoon extending into next season, you have to re-sign him.
He only made the one bad pitch to Utley. Francisco reached on an infield single. Wandy actually looks more in command of his stuff than early in the game. He was getting away with it early.
Okay 96 pitches for Wandy and his bat coming up. While he has been swinging well, you I think Mills PH's for him and takes him out.
Mills keeps him in. I think he would have done so even if Castro reached. Hopefully he can give us 1 more solid inning.
We can trade him. He is still under club control. This will be his final year of arbitration if I recall correctly. If you remember when we traded for Lindstrom he didn't have a contract either, he was just arbitration-eligible. And the fact that he is so good is why I trade him. Trade when the value is high. After next season he will get likely his only chance to break the bank.
It makes sense that he didn't because the bullpen has been so taxed the last few days. Wandy would still probably finish around 110 pitches after 7 IP which is reasonable.
I'm watching MLB Gamecast so I don't get to see that. Just two doubles and two singles in two innings wasn't good. Really lucky to only give up 1.
Bourn being Bourn. He mis-hits a ball but gets on base with an infield single. He steals 2nd. Pitcher threw to 1st but Bourn was already long gone. Hernandez with an infeld single. Polanco tries to go to 1st but it's late. Bourn goes from 2nd all the way home, barely beating the throw from Howard.
Wandy being checked out by the trainer at the start of the inning. It appeared he grimaced when he took his first swing in the top half.
6 outs away from sweeping the Phils in Philly?? Man oh man, this is FUN!!!! Go Astros!!! Like the Golden '80s all over again. Shades of Willie McGee and Vince Coleman. And Tim Raines. Beautiful.
