We have 2 qualifed hitters with an OPS over .700. One of them is on the DL (Kepp). The Phillies have 8 qualified hitters with an OPS over .700. Ouch. And the Phillies are having a down year offensively despite being 3rd in the NL in runs scored. They've been without several key players for significant stretches, including Howard, Utley, Rollins, Polanco and Victorino but they're getting healthy now.
He looks like he's running in slow-mo. It's freaky. He's 26 and physically appears to be a good athlete but simply isn't.
I still can't believe he didn't score. It seemed like he should've been able to jog home (only slight exaggeration).
That's the slowest shortstop I've ever seen, ever!!!! He's way out of shape, he seems to not have his legs under him.
My guess is that it has nothing to do with conditioning. He's either hiding an injury or is just naturally incredibly slow.
Doesnt the 3rd base coach make the call? Wouldnt he know if Sanchez were THAT slow? I cant see the game, from isnt scoring from 1st on a double a little iffy anyway?
People were wondering if something was wrong with Pujols earlier this year. All he's doing is vying for the triple count. He just hit his 33rd HR and is approaching 100 RBI with a quarter of the season remaining.
I've never felt that Dave Clark was a very good 3B coach but that's just my meaningless armchair opinion. Regarding that specific play, you can't blame Clark. I probably would've sent Carlos Lee with a hot dog in his hand. I already had the score at 2-0 when the ball was hit.
I found a video of Sanchez running: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CyOt6RUs9mE?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CyOt6RUs9mE?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
q involved in crazy plays left and right. i wonder when the last time somebody was picked off at 2nd on an intentional walk.
That was awesome. Probably a long time but you never know. Sanchez getting thrown out looks yet even bigger with 6 outs to go and the rain coming down hard.
I still haven't had a chance to watch them since you've started bringing this up. I'm curious to just how slow he is.
I'm surely exaggerating it in my posts but it's based on what is blatantly obvious - that Sanchez is very slow for his age, position and body type.
