One thing I really like about Lee is the fact that he SMILES a lot and seems to enjoy the game. He's buisnesslike, but shows his happiness, especially when he does good himself. One knock on Bags was inability to be happy (or though it seems).
i've been watching a couple of games, but what's the deal with berkman these days? .172, 1 hr, 3 rbi, through 9 games? doesn't seem like he's doing anything out of the ordinary when he's up there, but maybe there's something i'm missing. lee's come around, now it's a matter of berkman getting it togehter..
My god... is Fox even a real network? Calling Koby Clemens "Cody"?!? Is Jeannie Zelasko really the best studio host Fox can afford? She's not funny, not particularly good looking, has a horrible voice, isn't knowledgeable... does she simply have the job because she always had the job? Is Fox that lazy? If everybody wants to complain about why the overall sports landscape is switching strictly to cable tv, people need to realize that the big-time tv networks are putting absolutely ZERO effort to covering sports that are not the NFL. I'd rather watch Ravech/Kruk/Phillips/Gammons over this mess of a show any day.
Some more expert commentary from big Fox: "Phillies... don't worry... I once managed a team one year that started 2-8, and we ALMOST won the division. So don't worry." -- Kevin Kennedy. Wow, with expert commentary like that, its a wonder why he hasn't been offered a job to manage again.
Wasn't it Grace who called him Cody first? Grace doesn't work for Fox. They may not have wanted to correct him. That's giving them credit though.
Wow, Biggio, Burke, and Berkman all seemed to be swinging pretty weakly against Hamels in the first inning. Hope our AB's get better as the game progresses.
He works for little fox, which by default, means he works for big Fox as well. And honestly, I'd much rather watch Grace host a pre-game show BY HIMSELF, than have to sit thru Kennedy's babblings, and Zelasko's harsh shrilly voice. It just doesn't seem professional... not at all. I do like their game broadcasts, however... just not their pre-game show.
Shouldn't be too much of a surprise... the biggest weakness this team had last season was how overmatched it was against lefties (remember Chuck James), particularly those that are power pitchers. Hopefully Lee will help turn that around a bit.
Also, Burke will hit them better than Willy did... and Loretta will help out once Biggio gets to 3000. We have, however, faced a ton of lefties already this season... and its a major reason why Lance has started off so slowly (hasn't been able to get into a rhythm on either side of the plate).
