1-2-3 inning for our new closer. 3 K's. Astros ride the 3 homers and 6 RBI's from El Caballo to victory.

And Roy's 100th career win, right?

Nice job overall by the pen: 4 innings, 4 hits, 1 walk, 4 Ks, no runs. Roy gets the W off a 5 inning 6 run effort -- makes up for opening day.

    WOW LEEE!
I picked a GOOD game to watch!!
I take back everything negative I have said about Lee, if any.
We just need Berk to explode like this! He's been awfully quiet.

    I wondered this myself.

I think the answer is that, having been removed after one inning, Lidge had a good outing. Shaky, baserunner-wise, but ultimately good. It has to be tacked up in the "positive" category. And running him out there for another inning would have risked the beginnings of a possible buildup of confidence (or good karma, or whatever you'd like to call it) particularly after having already successfully faced down the heart of the Phils' very dangerous order.

Sure, two successful innings would be better than one, but one good one is better than a good one and a bad one.

I actually thought Cooper did a nice job managing tonight.

that home-plate ump was brutal. if i was his boss and just watched the bottom of the fifth, he would be out of a job. squeezing blatant strikes and then a balk call? atleast it was harmless in the end.

there are few to zero pitchers with stones like roy oswalt. even on a night when he can't get a good grip and the ump sucks, he battles. LOVE that guy.

Hey Ensberg, Jack Parkman called, he wants his glasses back.

But you can keep them as long as you keep on hitting like that.
