Damn, Jennings is a huge part of our team and we gave up alot to get him. The season depends on having a legitimate #2 starter behind Oswalt. I hope he's ok, anything involving the pitching elbow is scary for a SP.
Lineup is better without Willy... and Buchholz wouldn't have made the team. When you look at it that way, its simply Hirsh vs. Jennings... at this point, I'd rather have Jennings (assuming he's healthy).
Well, lineup should be better without Willy. But right now, Burke and Willy are both batting below 0.200. But the defense is a lot worse with Burke. So it remains to be seen what's better. We've already seen a few costly errors in the first week or so. Hirsh/Jennings is also still up in the air a bit. Their numbers are virtually identical so far, but obviously, it's way early to tell. Remember, last year was Hirsh's first in the majors. If both are decent, Hirsh was a whole lot cheaper than what Jennings will cost next year.
I agree with you on all points. I thought the trade was good, assuming Jennings re-signs with us instead of leaving via free agency. But if he's hurt, this team is in trouble.
haha ... anybody see Pinella's post game comments today after the Cubs blew the big lead? Me thinks someone just realized they are a Cub.
I just saw it. Too funny. That 5th inning was brutal though. Walking in two runs? Ohman threw 9 pitches, 8 balls and 1 strike. OUCH! Anyway, the Cubbies have now passed the Astros to take possesion of last place in the division.
no joke, a bloop single and then a single that rolls about 9 feet for an rbi. then again, this was in between about 98 pitches and 5 walks for roy too so... meh.
Not to mention that Barajas hit two fouls that should've ended the inning but blew about an inch from Houston defenders.
Ugh . . . This is Fugly. The return of the Disastros. Roy has thrown 46 pitches. At this rate, he won't even last 3 innings.
