Definitely. I just want them to have enough left for those last few games, should we still have a shot then. Of course, to get to that point we have to win the games now...so it's definitely a pickle we're in...and then of course the second weakest guy in the bullpen gives up a 2 run shot. Wish we could rewind to last year when the Phillie's we're this team's personal b!tches.
It just doesn't make any sense to me. Running out these mediocre relievers. You play for the win. It's the last week of the season. Wandy and Borkowski in a tied game? Really Garner? Really?
Wow. That's just bad execution coming back to bite you in the ass. I still have faith. Come on Stros, lets get those back.
Huh? They should be playing every game like it is the last game of the year....more than likely they will have ALL offseason to relax......and if you need more arms...call more up... By the way...none of that would have mattered if Burke catches that easy line drive. DD
yes Rollins, has power, but it hurts when someone other than Utley or Howards beats you. It's tough enough making sure they don't do you in, but when you have their atypical lead off hitter inflicting that kind of damage, it's demoralizing.
You expect Borkowski (or any other MLB pitcher) to be able to get thru the bottom of any NL lineup. Granted, its not the ideal situation, but this team only has three above average relievers (two of them being awfully inconsistent)... you can't fire them all out there in a tie game in the 6th inning, unless you're facing the heart of the lineup. Miller should be up and ready to face Howard.
If the Astros had to lose one in the final week, this was the one I'd have pointed to. They can afford to lose probably just one....they're better than Pitt and Atlanta though, so they should and must win those. I'd rather them just win out though and make it easier...but this team has never been about doing the easy thing.
Borkowski should only pitch in blowouts and extra inning games. His ERA in other games is likely in the 7 or 8 range.
I agree. Nieve is the 4th best reliever the Stros have behind Wheeler, Qualls, and Miller. He should have a expanded role.
Borkowski was touted as just that not too long ago, before he started failing. I agree that Nieve will have a huge role next year as well, however. Does Charlie ever get tired of turning Berkman around? Sooner or later he'll get burned (if not this AB, but by the fact that he won't have any lefties for when it really matters... like it happened 2 weeks ago).
