Sampson is pretty good. ERA is terrific actually. I hope Im wrong but I feel like the line up Garner put out there wont get it done.
It would have to be one hell of a sacrifice fly or squeeze to score Quintero. It's possible, but it'll take some skill with that speed, or lack thereof.
I forgot about Willy's lack of prowress at situational hitting... if he plans on a career batting leadoff, he needs to develop into somebody who can do something more than just a bunt single.
I actually think the Phillies are confident that right-handed Lance isn't that good... most teams feel that way (until Lance slashes one of his patented RISING hits that he seems to get with his right-handed swing). That being said, Ensberg is either fouling them off, or laying off the junk.
Would Lance be worse as a lefty going against a lefty than as a righty, cause he does bat better from the left side. Just curious as to which would be worse.
If nothing else, the extended ABs that inning drove up Wolf's pitch count to 52. The earlier we can get the lefty out the better our chances.
I honestly think its more a case of sample size... he sees so much more right handed pitching, that his left-handed stick gets a ton more chances to put up the huge numbers. Lance himself has been quoted as saying he has more natural power from the right side... and his swing puts so much topspin on the ball, that those balls end up carrying themselves out. Up until the last couple of weeks, Lance was hitting tremendous right-handed, and has put together a good 2 and a half years from that side (rebounded from his early career struggles).
