    Couple comments...

Im not a Longhorn fan at all...and I dont think much of Bush.

Bush supporters continue saying that Bush is accomplishing all of this while being a back-up...Yes, he is a back up RB, but he plays WR when he isnt lined up in the backfield. In other words, he is involved in as many plays as any starter...and he is in more plays than Deuce. He is a starter.

I'm not a Longhorn fan either, and I don't hate Reggie Bush. He seems like a good enough kid and he's exciting to watch. Frankly, I wish we would have drafted him, but we didn't and I've moved on. Unlike some people.

I don't know what your motivations are, jgreen91. Are you a Saints fan? Are you a Longhorn hater? Are you a Texan hater? Are you a USC fan? I don't know what your point is.

What is the 'end game' to your Bush trolling all over this Mario thread? You say "it isn't about Bush vs. Mario anymore", but if it's not, then why do you keep trying to convince everyone that Bush is so great?

They are referring to RB duties. He hasn't had a consistent load of carries. As far as being a WR, Bush is doing great.

I don't see why people feel the need to jump all over Bush for a relatively slow start. He hasn't lived up to the crazy hype but he's still been pretty good.

The reason people are jumping all over him is that they had to listen for months all this garbage about he'll be one of the greatest running backs ever, the texans are idiots, etc. It's not surprising people would shoot back when that's not true and tell those people how wrong they appear to be (so far).

If people antagonize and tell people how stupid their team is for not picking Bush, they shouldn't be surprised when there's a backlash if they seem to be wrong.

Perhaps they're jumping all over the hype?

But it doesn't result in a fair assessment of Bush.

Perhaps, then they should attack ESPN. Vince Young also had crazy hype too.

Or those who parrot ESPN, or those whose takes sound just like ESPN, or those who, as Major pointed out, hyperbolically elevate the man's value and hyperbolicaly incriminate the Texans' decision making.

And, his hype and those who spew have taken in the chin in this forum as well.

I don't believe Bush being assessed unfairly or attacked so much as the over-hype is.

i was looking at the numbers yesterday and he isn't doing good as a "wide receiver". he is like 35th in receiving yards and he is only averaging like 7.5 yards per catch, but he is leading the league in receptions. so he isn't a big play receiver either. he is a dump off guy. he is a dump off guy because he can't rush the ball so they are trying to get him involved that way. he still is fast a hell, but he just doesn't seem big enough to be a consistent back in the NFL.

it really sucks that i think like this about reggie bush. all the hype around him has made me anti-reggie. one of my friends who gets his football knowledge straight from ESPN says reggie can be one of the best football players ever. i want to puke when i hear this.

Not bad for a WR. Silly of me, but I would think rushing stats would be the most crucial ones for a RB. But hey, I will play along.

Deuce averages more ypr than Bush now. Translation, they are throwing to him a lot to increase his chances of breaking one. It hasn't worked yet (yards per catch isn't that high, hardly any big receiving plays and no receiving touchdowns).

    LMAO!!!

Doing better than we expected? I think I was the leading anti-Bush poster in this forum up until a month ago, and even I expected him to be around 3.8 yards per carry or so. I didn't think he'd have problems running the ball as much as he'd have some durability issues... but 3.14 YPC?!?!? That's better than even my wildest dreams of how poorly he could do.

And he's caught a bunch of dump-off passes... great. Meet Kevin Faulk.

jgreen: of course the hate here is much different than it is on other NFL boards. Most boards are ESPN garbage. This is one of the best boards (in terms of quality) that you'll ever find. People here have an ability to analyze and think for themselves instead of believing everything force fed to them by Bristol, Connecticut. So, don't be surprised if the tone is a little different... that's what happens when you have people who can think for themselves.

I don't think folks want Bush to fail (or the saints). Maybe we just want to actually see him do something to warrant all the praise before you and others Monica Lewinsky him.

    Jgreen..not you Cat........

I'm guessing it's never been a good thing for someone for his name to become a verb.

msn nailed it. I don't think people are attacking Bush, we're attacking the hype surrounding Bush. Reggie just happens to be caught in the middle.

that's like hating a song because radio overplays it.

    btw, from today's TMQ:
Sweet Play of the Week No. 1: Blocking was great as Reggie Bush ran a fourth-quarter punt back 65 yards to allow the United States Saints to defeat Tampa. Earlier, Deuce McAllister ran for 57 yards after Bush lined up as a wide receiver and ran a fake end-around, drawing the Bucs' defense.

They are saying that he is getting all these receptions despite being a backup RB.

    Oh, I do that too.

Again, I don't hate Bush. I just get tired of the "we should've drafted Bush" rhetoric. It's time to move on.

So if anyone else with speed (say any fast receiver that they used to run end arounds) was substituted for Bush in this play, do you think they would get any mention?

Only if someone is "hating" Bush. I can be sick of hearing a song and still recognize it's a great song.
