The arrogance is thinking that you can turn any RB or QB into a good player, since you did it in Denver.
yeah, that's just silly. denver is shuffling through RB's this season already. they haven't exactly been an offensive powerhouse so far.
At least Yao showed some signs ..... After 4 pre-season games n 3 reg. games (3reg game = 20% of season) MARIO has shown sign of ah hmmmm hmmm a $54mil TREE
I'm certainly not happy with the way the season is going. I never thought I'd see the day when I would turn the channel on them (unless it was a blowout or commercial and yet I still stayed with them a lot of the time) or turn down great seats to a game. I think the point a select few are missing is that we're so mad because we're texans fans. I seriously doubt anyone really wanted Williams to be a bust. Why would anyone cheer for that. I am a fan of a lot of guys on different team (my favorite player is LT yet i don't root for the Chargers) so just because we passed on a guy whom one likes doesn't mean you stop being a Texans fan. The frustration is with the organization in general. Our secondary still sucks, Demeco is our only good LB, we have no running game and our pass rush is pathetic. We were told as fans that Williams would have an immediate impact and he has. He makes me not want to watch my favorite team anymore. He wasn't being double teamed yesterday much at all and still was a non factor. The scary thing is that it seems he either doesn't care or isn't very good. Either way, that sucks for us.
Exactly. Yao would look stupid on several plays by getting blocked, losing the ball, or just falling down, but he would also have those moments where you said "wow" he's got some talent. Don't see that from Mario.
Its early on the season and I'm not giving up on the guy, but I've already seen instances where Mario Williams puts in cruise control. If a play passes him by, he doesn't keep running, he justs jogs until the whistle is blown. It is scary at the fact that he's shown no flashes of getting to the QB on a pass rush yet. The thing that irritates me is hearing that he's still raw and learning the position, which to me says the Texans didn't do their homework on this guy thoroughly.
At least once yesterday, he would've had a sack had the OL guarding him hadn't tackled him (and they called the holding). I know it's not a lot, though.
He did chase down Betts or Portis ten yards upfield yesterday to make the tackle. We are still trying to figure out Mario as he tries to figure out the pace of the NFL. I do wish we'd see more recklessness out of him but that may not be his style.
I think why many people are so disappointed is that they expected "at least" flashes of "raw" talent. I for one have not seen as much as a flicker. He was billed as a kind of superman, but he looks slow and that concerns me the most. You can't teach speed. If he is indeed a "workout wonder" and not much of a football player the Texans have made a "historic" bad decision by passing on several "once in a life time players" AND committing 54,000,000 dollars. And watch out for MNF, you know they are going to try and feature Bush in some way. And this is going to go on all year. It is enough to be bad, but it is tough to also be the laughing stock of the league because you squandered the number one pick. To compound the pain, if Williams keeps performing this poorly, the coaches are going to have to restrict his playing time. I look for wholesale personnel changes to come soon.
I think it adds fuel to the fire but I think Mario is making Mario look bad. Expectations of him may be unfair but because of who we passed on it will always be like that (unless Bush or VY don't pan out). VY will get the benfit of the doubt for at least 3 years (unless he's completely brutal which I highly doubt) and Bush is the Saints leading receiver. Bush will have to get going on the ground but as long as he contributes and if he ends up leading them in receiving then it will be a lot worse.
He also made the first contact in the backfield during one play in the first quarter I believe. I remember it well because he jumped on the pile after that and was flailing his arms recklessly.
LOL at those people who downplay Mario's ineffectiveness by pointing out Bush's mediocre rushing.. 15 Receptions in 2 games.. what has Mario done? Freaking incompentent Texans Management made a brilliant move!
I see your analogy.. I actually agree with it.. One guy was never gonna make a big difference.. But still Bush's Rims is still better than Mario's Hubcaps
And we officially have a negative post on the Mario Williams message board! http://www.igameface.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82
Yep, we've been shuffling through the RB's... and still averaging 150 yards per game rushing. The running game is not the problem, Jake Plummer is, at least he was the way he played the first two games. If he plays like he did yesterday the Broncos will be fine.
Very well. I've seen two of their games. He commited a penalty in the first game but the Jets line (which features 2 rookies) has been pretty solid and excellent in pass blocking. I don't think Ferguson has given up a sack yet. I believe the Jets have found themselves a solid (at least) left tackle for the next 10 years. For my $$$, he has done more than Bush/Williams/Young so far. But hey who knew the Texans needed OL help right?.....
i think we need to start a "Draft Adrian Peterson" thread soon. he's no Reggie Bush, but then again, the Texans braintrust didn't think too much of Reggie anyway... maybe Peterson will get their attention. we might be able to do the whole Reggie Bush-Lendale White thing here with Adrian Peterson-Domanick Davis. haha i WISH. even if we do get the #1 or #2, b/c our defense is gonna suck again this year, the Texans are gonna make defense the priority again [so that we suck next year too] and pass on Peterson. i feel like wearing a paper grocery bag around everywhere i go.
