Fact: The Texans drafted Mario Williams to get presure on the QB.

    Lawson 2 sacks
    Mario 0 sacks.

    FU.

I admit he doesnt look good so far but comparing him to a LB is moronic. So FU!

some people dont know that lawson is not playing DE like he did in colelge. the niners run a 3-4 defense and have him at LB

Don't see why that matters... for example Babin played DE in college; we converted him to LB when we ran the 3-4; he is playing DE again now that we went to a 4-3. Lawson has at least gotten to the QB (something Babin striggled with and something Williams is struggling with).

btw, you get the feeling that Bush will have a monster game Monday night to ratchet up the pressure on Williams (and his defenders)...

Still waiting to see SOMETHING. Some kind of impact. Some reason for drafting this guy with the #1 pick on the board. Haven't seen a single thing yet. Still waiting.

well ive never defended mario williams or the texans choice to select him number 1, but mario williams is gonna get double teamed, which makes it easier for other lineman and LB's to get in the backfield. naturally defensive ends have far less tackles than linebackers...thats why 3 tackles is a pretty good game for a DE. i dont know why mario got a lot of heat for that after his first game. if mario williams is gonna get a sack, he's gonna need more help from the defensive line and linebackers, cuz mario isnt gonna beat his man every play.

    ok...not attacking you on this...but:

STOP WITH THE DOUBLE TEAM TALK!!!!!!!

    a. i don't see him getting double teamed. if he is, it ain't very often;

    b. if he is...SO FREAKING WHAT??? he's supposed to be in the mold of the greats...the greats get double-teamed all the freaking time....they still have impact.

THERE IS ZERO IMPACT FROM THIS GUY SO FAR!!!!!

i'm not saying he'll never have impact. but let's stop with the excuse making for him. until he shows otherwise, he is part of the problem. part of a defensive line that fails to get any pressue whatsoever on opposing QB's.

But he isn't getting double-teamed. At least very often. In fact, the opponents are even blocking him with the TE. Someof the time they simply have the tackle guide him wide past the pocket. And other times it looks like WIlliams is playing contan and not even rushing the pocket.

I just don't see hoim pressuring the pocket at all...

I have yet to talk negatively about MW... but this guy is killing me softly. He looks so slow out there, I dont see how he tore up the combine with his "freakish" abilities. Im gonna be patient with him throughout the whole season, but I cant say Im too happy about his progress. I watched all 4 preseason games and 3 regular season games and I have yet to have 1 moment where I said, "nice!". Seriously, not 1, and that is quite disturbing.

Our defense is absolutely brutal though, so I cant blame the selection of a defensive player. Michael Huff would look nice in a Texans uni...

Pipe down hot rod. You are an idiot if you are defending Mario Williams at this point. Our entire defense is bad, but if we could get some pressure on the QB from Mario's position then maybe it would take some pressure off our secondary. Get someone else in there, 2nd string, 3rd string whatever, at least maybe they can shed a block from a tight end.

Cue up all the "experts" that say you don't draft a safety with a high first round draft pick (the same "experts" that say you don't draft RBs with a high first round draft pick I reckon)...
