Hey, he showed some signs of life vs the Colts. Same effort + inferior competition should result in something positive vs the Skins. After all, the Skins dont exactly have "the hogs" on the OL now.

Why does everyone who disagree with the pick have to be a Bush or Young lover? Are you a Williams lover then? i'm very unhappy with the pick and would have much rather had Bush, Young, Leinart, DBrick, Hawk, ec... Face it, the dude looks like crap. Spin it any way you want but that's a fact. At least Young and Bush have helped their teams. Ryans and Daniels have looked good and Spencer was having a good year (playing a harder position). Stop bringing up Bush and young (it's only going to hurt your argument anyways) and focus on Marios positives. When he shows me something then I'll be happy. Right now, I'm a ver pissed off Texan fan

I wouldn't mind giving anyone a chance with the way the defense has looked as of late, but I was responding to a poster who said that Slay outplayed Huff in college.

The problem I have with Slay is his coverage skills or lack there of. I wouldn't mind adding a big hitter in the secondary and Slay would certainly fit the bill, but the main problem has been the coverage. Like Roy Williams (obviously to a much much lesser extent), Slay is a tweener between a LB and DB. While they are tackling machines, they don't have the speed to be fulltime coverage guys.

agreed. hey strahan and Umenyiora from the giants played both the colts and the eagles. guess how many sacks they registered TOGETHER against both teams. 1 FREAKIN SACK. Both of them are pro-bowl calibur DEs and one that will be a potential all-time sack leader and future HOF. Please, at least give williams some time before anyone should call him a "bust".

I agree. I'm just looking for some help in our secondary. Williams is pretty brutal in coverage though (although most big hitters tend to get burnt a lot)

I just can't believe the texans would do so well evaluating talent with all their other picks, but completely screw the pooch with the #1 pick. I still have faith that mario will show his #1 value. right now I am not happy at all, but I will give the guy 8 games before I start ripping him and calling him a bust.

Are you kidding? Bush is a huge huge huge part of his teams offense and special teams. He returns punts, he backs up Deuce as running back and they line up in split backs, bush catches the passes out of the backfield and when he isn't catching passes, he is acting as a decoy and that frees up Deuce. Don't be dumb, Bush is a freaking huge reason why his team is 2-0. The guy has come in and made an immediate impact.

Young led his team to a touchdown, he has been the only spark on that horrible team thus far. How in the world can you say that neither Bush nor Young have done anything?

Mario Williams is an absolute joke so far. There is no way to spin it, or no way around it, the proof is in the pudding. Stop being dumb.

ok...well that's not the description of what we were drafting with mario williams. you don't take a guy with the #1 pick to play DL who is gonna take years to develop and who isn't a speed guy.

i thought mario was supposed to be a speed guy?? i thought the combines spoke to that???

i'm fine with giving him some time. but i don't want to hear excuses all year long if he has no impact. because we were told to expect impact THIS YEAR. that was sold of one of the advantages of mario over other choices in this draft.

I'm officially going to Abandon the Comparisons to VY and RB
IMO they will be greater than he . ..so it is not fair
    BUT
I will here by making his name Synonymous with D'BRICKASHAW Ferguson

I think Spencer and D'Brickashaw would have solidified the O-Line
for years to come. Both Tackle positions would have been solid

    Rocket River
Spokesman for the D'Brickashaw group :D

I don't think he's going to take years to develop. I DO, however, think it's going to take longer that 2 games....

I know you already know this, but here's a newsflash for some others in this thread...

"This year" consists of 16 games. Not 2.

Hey Kimo Sabe, he was clocked at running 4.4 in the 40. The dude weighs around 300#. Last I checked, that was fast even with someone 150#.

So, what was your point again?

I dont think my take on Mario's progression is all that outrageous. He needs to show something. He better show something or else the flak from the media and the fans will grow to NYC fandom proportions. It's pretty obvious that people here are tired of the bullsh*t performances they've dealt with mostly for the last 4 years.

I'm a Texan fan and that wont change but dammit show some sort of improvement and I think they will sooner than most think because, we have a coaching staff that demands accountability and will not tolerate losing.

We'll await your take when Nawlins gets their ass handed to them courtesy of Warrick Dunn and Vick-ster on Monday night. ATL's last 2 games rushing total: 550 yds.

Drew Brees will have to have a monster game just to make this competitive. Because they aint playing Cleveland this week. ATL's got a D just ask Tampa.

My bet is the Saints count outscore them and wont be able to stop them either. Bush cant help the defense.

I await your take next Tuesday. :p
