I think Lee likes Philly. He had that 3 HR game last time, and now a double that was a couple of feet from going out.
Not a particularly wise decision to send Biggio when his chances of scoring were clearly minimal. If they hold him at third, you have second and third for Berkman and a chance to break it open.
I could see that, but when it's Lance Berkman, you give him the benefit of the doubt, imo... that's why.
Very offensively oriented game so far. Fun to see the Astros holding their own in that department this season. Lance is heating up too.
I think he definitely gets the one Helms hit. He also may have turned the DP when Biggio had problems getting the ball out of his glove. The liner up the middle would have been iffy unless his positioning would have enabled him to make the play.
Dammit, cutting off Lee's throw home cost us a run. Burrell was dead meat at the plate if they let the throw go through.
Man, I hate it when the manager leaves an imploding pitcher in just becuase we're "in the game". This is freakin' brutal. I know it's only the 4th, but it was clear early on that Sampson didn't have anything tonight. 13 hits and 7 earned runs in 4 innings. UGH!!!
I don't think so. It could have been close, but it was far from a sure out which is what the cutoff gave us.
I like how Gary Matthews remembered J R Richard pitching against them in the 1980 playoffs. If only.... He also gave credit to Jimmy Rollins for "reading" the play all the way when he scored from 1st on the double WITH TWO OUTS. Yeah, that was a tough decision, whether or not to run.... Can't ever complain about Harry Kalas. He got his ML start with the Astros.
Yeah I was gonna post about that "reading" the play comment. Matthews was by far the worst one of the group (they rotated multiple guys in and out) At least he caught himself after saying that and said "but there were 2 outs so it's not even a question--you just go"
I don't think they score that inning if AE's in the game. Loretta has just about minimal range at SS. More 2B, less SS, please. Especially on a team with about 9 groundball pitchers.
