keep trying to develop into a decent SP. he doesn’t fit as a reliever at least with Dusty managing his workload.
Jake must be hoping the Padres get it all out of their system tonight and this isn't an offensive revival for the Pads.
The offense has been hella overrated since the all star. If the starter don't put up a shut out, good luck winning.
Started great with the Blue Jays victory ended with a blowout loss except we didn't lose a game to the A's. But the Mariners are currently the hottest AL team. We can't blame the manager on this one except the team is not the same as the 1st half team.
Huge sigh of relief with Yordan’s x-rays coming back negative and him walking around the clubhouse after the game.
A hold occurs when a relief pitcher enters the game in a save situation and maintains his team's lead for the next relief pitcher, while recording at least one out. One of two conditions must be met for a pitcher to record a hold: 1) He enters with a lead of three runs or less and maintains that lead while recording at least one out. 2) He enters the game with the tying run on-deck, at the plate or on the bases, and records an out. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/standard-stats/hold
Maintaining a lead is more stressful then being in a break-even scenario. This is how chokers are made (See Harden, J.)
This is not directed at you, just triggered something for me. I have been thinking something similarly, but it’s a little more than that to me. First, it’s baseball. People always want to freak out after a loss. Everyone should chill a little and ride the waves of this game. Sometimes guys get it done, sometimes they just don’t. For me, this is a leadership thing. I said it long ago and I’ll say it now…I don’t feel like Dusty truly is/has/understands the pulse of this team. Yes I know Hinch ( just an example) is gone, but I feel like win/lose or draw he understood (for the most part) how to put guys in position to be successful. There were clear and defined roles. Guys knew it, accepted it and the team was better for it. Not only that, but Manager and front office felt more aligned. I don’t get the feeling in the least that Dusty and JC are aligned in the least. I think that’s shown and I think it does hurt the team. I still have faith in this team and they have the talent to get hot and go out and win it. These guys have earned my patience and have shown us over the last handful of years that they’re more than talented enough to win. Don’t really want to get too far ahead, but changes will have to be made in the off-season imo so this club can be more aligned next season. Still, hope talent wins out and this team gets it together for a deep run.
I'll tell yall one thing, the Blue Jays are much more fun to watch than our guys right now. Hope they take it to the Yankees in their next series. About to sweep the A's.
