That pitcher hadn't walked the last 110 batters then walked Quintero and Navarro with 2 outs and the bases empty before Bourn's triple. We have 9 walks on the night which is the equivalent of like 100 for most teams. As of about 2 weeks ago, we had the 3rd worst team OBP up to that point in a season since 1969 but we've been walking a bunch recently. I wonder where we rank now.
1 was intentional but still, it's amazing when Q draws 1 unintentional walk, let alone 2. Having said that, Garland is a guy who walks a fair amount of batters and was all over the place tonight. He kind of made it easy on a few occasions. This Gregerson cat was also struggling mightily.
all my hopes and dreams would be magically fulfilled if we could finish ahead of the Cubs this season.
Not worthy of its own thread, and nothing new, but Carlos Lee most overpaid LF this season: http://www.forbes.com/2010/06/29/ba...business-sports-overpaid-players_slide_6.html
The Reds just put a 9 spot up on the Cubs in the top of the 7th. They're up 10-0. We'll be 2 games back momentarily with Roy taking the mound tonight.
Unfortunately, we're still last in that column. And still near the bottom for most of the other offensive categories...
Oswalt was dominant in the 1st. Hope he stays sharp all game. Latos was dominant, too, picking up where he left off last time we faced him. He beat us on the mound and at the plate in that game. If he comes remotely close to that performance again, I propose that all the Astros start calling him Daddy Latos.
Suckiest baseball injury ever? From Alyson Footer's twitter: Blum was putting his shirt on last night after the game and boom, his elbow popped. Swelled up on him overnight. At Dr. now.
Has to be up there. Funny things happen with your body as you get older. I don't know if that's part of it but my body's done some weird things in recent years.
