I don't like his plate approach either. There was this kid in 1991...name was Bagwell...I didn't like his plate approach either. :D

As long as Miggy keeps getting hits, I won't get upset. Now if he goes into a tailspin, he may need some coaching and some serious time in the batting cage.

Bagwell's OBP was .387 in 1991. That is the very definition of a good plate approach.

Actually, that is a good plate result. It does not directly speak to his approach.

I beg to differ. 600 plate appearances of good results infers a good approach. Though you can certainly say that Tejada's career body of good results also infers a good approach, and I would not be able to counter that argument.

I guess 'plate approach' is an ambiguous term that means something different to everyone. To me, a player who repeatedly swings at pitches at eye-level after working a 3-0 count is taking a poor approach. That said, Tejada's numbers speak for themselves, so maybe it works for him. I think my original point was that a free-swinging player tends to deteriorate very quickly when the bat speed that allows him to make contact with a chest-high heater starts to diminish. A player with a better 'plate approach' (in my opinion) tends to be able to play at a higher level longer. YMMV.

Anyone ever try and watch games on atdhe.fr? It doesn't seem to work on Mozilla and they want you to download some plugin on IE. Today's game - http://atdhe.fr/32.html

Looks like 30 games...every Sunday game and a few weekdays here and there.

    Sigh.
