Woody has actually been pretty good the last few games, and Wandy was surprisingly good last night, especially considering he has the worst road ERA in the league. This is what we've been waiting for all year.

Who would have ever thought, before the season started, that Woody's performance would be acceptable and Jennings's would be awful? I would've predicted the exact opposite.

So how does Lamb get the win, and Wigginton gets credit for 2 shut outs.

Pence was/is supposed to go to Corpus or RR for a few games this weekend to rehab and should join the club next week. The weather in those areas has postponed that, so it could be later, or if the games continue to rain out, he might just work his way back as a PH or something.

I should've used "BB" instead of "W" for "walk", but "SO" is what it is.

He's playing in Round Rock tonight, and is scheduled to play at least 3 games.

After looking around at some stats websites and my old baseball cards, it turns out you are right. They used SHO for "shut out".

That's weird because I had always heard that official scorers used K for "strike out" to avoid the confusion with "shut out". If that's not true, then I wonder what is the real story behind using K.

If S is used for Save, could SO be for Save Opportunities, just as BS is for Blown Save? Hence the SHO??

I just use what's on the official boxscore, which is "SO". Next time I'll use "K".

Twiggy made some nice defensive plays tonight, and he actually out-dueled Lamb for once. Burke & Berkman also made some nice plays in the outfield.

    Lamb
    0-for-4, 0 RBI, 0 BB, 1 K, 2 LOB

    Wigginton
    2-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 0 K, 0 LOB

Although you should've been able to figure it out considering I was talking about hitters, not pitchers. ;)
