    It's 6 teams, btw, DD. ;)

And the 5 NL West teams get beucoup chances to beat up on each other from here on out... and we have 6 with Cincy.

If they play like they're capable, they make the playoffs. Enjoy the ride.

To a Phillies team that has stunk it up all year.

I am SO not afraid of facing the Cards in the playoffs!

    Just gotta get there ...

I was away from the computer for most of the game. But I definitely got to enjoy what I think was one of our best wins this year!!! For this team to put up 7 runs without the Puma in the lineup is nothing short of amazing. More importantly, this team has allowed 1 run in the last two games. This without Oswalt or Clemens on the mound. The bullpen has been able to come out and be effective. What makes this even better is that this is all coming against San Diego, which is a good team in the diluted NL. We are putting up results against a playoff-caliber team.

I really think that the Astros are starting to pick it up at the right time, especially with Cincy faltering. I'm not ready to say that the Astros are back, but an all-around good game today might win me over. This team is more than capable of making the playoffs and creating some noise. Let's hope we continue today where we left off. I need a fix of some playoff baseball :)

I was at the game last night. Petco Park was filled with Astros fans! Great representation for the Astros on the road. We even got the "BGO! BGO!" chant going where I was sitting. How bout them Astros?

I try to like them, but their constant mistakes annoy me. Just last night I in passing I noticed a couple. In the top of the 7th, they said it was the 5th inning. And when they were giving a rundown of the scores, they said St. Louis lost to St. Louis. They need to improve on that. Is this these guy's first broadcast jobs or something? They make way too many errors.

Their pitching is abysmal outside of Chris Carpenter... and on top of it all, they're too busy trying to turn cast-offs (Weaver, Sosa) into gems... while struggling with the problems of Marquis' mental status and Mulder's gimpy shoulder.

there is no reason that we cant gain alot of ground on the cardinals. u are completely right about the pitching outside of carpenter. weaver has been a complete abortion since he came over (8.68 era), marquis is at 5.29 this past month, sosa is at 5.68 in july, mulder is at 6.09 and is now on the dl. isringhausen and carpenter are the only ones performing. i dont see why we cant make a run at the central

If Pettite and Lidge had pitched like they were supposed to... this team would probably be in the central lead right now.

Not if they throw out some rookie of whom the Astros have never seen before. Then they're sure to get shutout.
