Lidge actually has an ERA over 5.50 in save situations.

this year, it looks like the wild card winner will end up playing the mets in the Nlds...i think if a team gets hot and has a good pitching rotation they could upset the mets in the first round...

and of course as bad as st louis is playing by their standards, they would play the padres and basically a trip to the nlcs again

ok, so . . . i am getting ahead of myself here. but can you imagine roy pitching game one against the mets in the playoffs? thank god the trade deadline was not the disaster it could have been.

Well all three of our players who have sucked this year did well. Pettite Ensberg and Lidge. No surprise we won

Great sign that Lidge's fastball was 97-99 all the way. And man, the slider to strike out the first batter was that sick one we all remember. He did leave a couple of sliders up.. I didn't mind the nibbling, cause when he was at his best, he was hitting those corners for the strike calls. These are those encouraging outings that make us (me) think he might come out of it just like old..

Actually, Lidge's ERA is around 4.05 in save situations.

Exactly right. Let's hope Garner finally gets it sooner or later.

I think the Astros wear the red jerseys because they are the "cool base" type. They are are a alot thinner and breathe easier than the other typical authentic jerseys. My wife got me one for our anniversary and they are super comfortable.

I don't know if this has been mentioned in this thread, but 5 out of the 6 starters in this series played their high school ball in the Houston area.

i saw one slider that looked really hittable. he threw slider after slider. i was definitely encouraged by that.

I just have a feeling that this mets team will go down like the 98 Astros team. Good stuff in the regular season but some team that's hot will come in and mess everything up like the Padres did.

Here's to hoping that team is us.

And what great revenge that would be during the 20th anniversary of the 1986 NLCS ...

honestly, that wouldn't shock me at all. their starting pitching doesn't feel like championship caliber pitching. of course, no one in the NL has a champion feel to it, right now. and...of course...none of that matters if an NL team just gets hot at the right time.

Right, so? Remove all context, insert stats. Awesome. He was ehhh in April, horrible in the 2nd half of May (when his back was bothering him), sat out a bit, returned to the lineup permanently on the 7th of June, and has been very, very good since.

But he's "killing the team" with his offense. From the 8-hole. Whatever.

we're getting nearly exactly from AE what we expected at the beginning of the season.

how 'bout that play last night where he fielded the ball over in biggio's territory. wow. in a tight game like that, those plays are HUGE.
