A lot of fans were fooled when we did well against the weakest part of our schedule. Me included.

Beat up on cream puffs, get beat by the big dogs.

    28-41 against teams >.500(20th)
    33-18 against teams <.500(7th)
And you get a middle of the pack team

If you were to break it into tiers...

Tier 1: .550-1.000 teams: Giants, Orioles, Dodgers, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Indians, Nationals, Rangers, Cubs
    Record: 11-22

Tier 2: .450-.549 teams: Phillies, Rockies, White Sox, Royals, Mets, (Astros), Yankees, Marlins, Pirates, Tigers, Cardinals, Mariners
    Record: 20-22

Tier 3: .350-.449 teams: Braves, Twins, Padres, Angels, DBacks, Rays, Reds, Athletics, Brewers
    Record: 30-15

Nothing says "win now"/"compete now" like playing 8-12 rookies! Didn't know they were "rebuilding" again. Don't worry, I'm sure their window is "open" for the next 10 years. Maybe next year or the year after that!

No playoffs - no MVP. Hopefully still gets his share of votes but that's too bad for him. Great guy, special player. National/East Coast/Boston media ready to pounce on Mookie Betts. Not that he wouldn't be deserving but again, too bad for Jose.

regarding Betts, he's playing great and all, but it really pisses me off that ESPN and Baseball Tonight, as well as the Sox's PR team, has been calling themselves the killer b's.

Careful, some on here delusionally think we have " held our own" against the good teams.

    May 24 - June 5 we were...

    11-2

    June 14 - july 1 we were...

    13-2

    Rest of season......

    37-56

If we had played .500 ball outside of our 2 best streaks this year (or even a few games under .500) we would easily be in the playoffs. The 17-28 start hurt us and so has the spotty play since our last hot streak, which was a long time ago.

haha I was going to say that but I didn't want the Astros Hinch Bandwagon to come at me.

I wish we had a smart manager.

    Meh.

If I told you Dallas K & McHugh would both have an era of 4.70; that McCullers would pitch less than 100 innings, Sipp would have an era of 5.60 and Giles would have 2 saves.... You would think the Astros were in last place.... Now imagine if I told you the Astros starting centerfielder and corner outfielder would combine for a 600 OPS and 17 home runs.

The Astros have had too many holes this season, between the holes we knew about (1st/closer/3rd) to also having holes in 60% of the rotation and the entire outfield other than Springer.

Poor managing again was evident; but despite being a .500% team; somethings have looked long term more promising. Bregman and Reed both are starting to hit with more authority. If they continue to improve; the line up can become elite if the front office adds a professional hitter in the outfield and Gurriel is close to what scouts believe he can be.

All of these things. Just gotta hope a TOR starter becomes truly available in the offseason, and our farm depth will get the job done.

I think Lunhow, similar to Morey, thought the Astros were a lot closer than, in reality, they were. Our offense and bullpen struggled in 2015, and the only changes we made were to bring in a Closer with limited experience. On top of not making major changes to improve the Team, we've seen significant regression in some of our best 2015 players - Rasmus, K, McHugh, Gomez - and our rookies have severely underperformed.

Just a rough season, yet we are still .500.
