One interesting clause that each team owner must sign off on is called the "best interest of baseball" clause. It allows the commissioner unbridled discretion in determining what is (and isn't) in the best interest of baseball, and the commissioner is authorized to act accordingly. What's unique is that this clause isn't in any other major sport. Manfred is taking this clause to an extreme. The clause is usually used by the Commissioner merely to veto certain team practices. I have some examples in my notes if people are curious, but Manfred's alteration of how the game is played goes beyond precedent. Will be very interesting to see how this develops.
They're fighting an uphill battle in the ratings game... But I don't think it's because the game is too "slow".
