my exact words to a friend right at the start of the bottom half of the 10th were, "i wonder how we're gonna lose this one?"

You know as much as Cooper's job performance has been called into question these past several weeks, ..at what point should we spread the blame toward the rest of this coaching staff...Dewey Robinson, Mark Bailey and Sean Berry...I'm looking square at them. So often I see other teams adopt a philosophy at the plate of working the pitch count, staying patient in the box. Our guys don't seem to do that very much at all. Why? And all of our pitchers seem to have a problem with keeping the ball in the park (something that has been notable this season); and as has been stated before, many of our pitchers are performing worse than their career averages. These are things I would think would be more specific responsibilities of the rest of the coaching staff...not just Cooper.
If that's indeed the case, and the coaches are losing the clubhouse...then you'd have to believe that Cooper and his staff are gone after this season...maybe sooner. If Drayton wants a competitive team then keeping a manager who himself is starting to become a cancer might not be the best of decisions. You have to wonder, too, if the organization was a little too quick in lifting the interim tag in the offseason. Sick of seeing baserunners slide into first...run through the bag!!
there's nothing wrong with lifting the interim tag for this season, but once you realize that he's completely clueless and an awful manager, you fire him. there's no doubt in my mind that 90% of the other teams in baseball would have fired cooper right now. i wish mclane would sell the team to somebody who understands baseball.
If you're gonna fire him this early then maybe you shouldn't have hired him in the first place. That's why I'm starting to wonder if it would have been better for the team to actually do an exhaustive search for a manager in the offseason instead of just handing the reigns over to Cooper after managing the club for 31 games.
I love the Astros, but this team is getting harder and harder to watch . I will still watch the games no matter what, just not as often . Its getting really aggravating to see them just lose over and over again . The Texans season cant get here soon enough .
