The Astros are also linked to Andrew Miller with Velasquez going to the Yankees. The interest in Giles is in part based on the fact that he comes with 5 years of club control.
This being leaked increases the probability that no deal is imminent or likely.... (I'm going to apply this rule universally to all rumors involving the Astros, and see how it pans out.).

Trading GoGo would be interesting though, still don't think it happens because it wouldn't be selling high.
I think White will spend 2 weeks in AAA to delay FA. I'd like to see the team trade Valbuena, and hope Duffy wins the 3B job in the spring with Marwin being the fallback option, and Moran potentially being added during the season.
Astros don't need many changes. Re signing Colby was a good move. Letting Carter go, good move. Now they need to go after Sipp and Kazmir, and a closer via trade. I still think Morneau would be a good choice, but I understand the club giving a legit chance to Singleton before making any big move (Davis). What would it takes to get Miller or Giles? If the price is right, go for it.
Best case scenario: White and Reed are ready for MLB and better than internal alternatives. Reed sent down after ST. White is on opening day roster. Approximately 12 days later, Reed gets promoted and White is sent down. White is then called up 2 weeks after that. Both guys have FA delayed and Astros have 4 weeks to let things work themselves out.
Rasmus Castro Singleton/Reed Those will be in the regular lineup with Tucker on the bench and Marwin also available as a switch hitter. Moran is also a LHB.
This one doesn't make sense to me, unless Miller is hurt. The Yankees locked up a pretty good closer, don't see them dealing him, as they don't appear to be in rebuild mode. Doubtful that he's playing for anyone other than the Yankees next year (again, unless he's hurt and the Yanks are trying to dump him before the season begins).

The Yankees, Phillies and Reds may be looking to trade their closers, if and only if some other team will *wildly* overpay.
They have a dominant reliever (Dellin Betances) who filled-in for Miller last year. He could easily move to closer if Miller could land them a needed asset.
I don't think Super 2 is going to be as much of an issue going forward. I remember Luhnow saying as such when they brought up Correa. The point was that there's a good chance that system gets dumped in the next collective bargaining agreement.

Could be, but they just dealt Adam Warren. If they deal Miller, they'll go from having one of the stronger bullpens to one of the more weaker bullpens. Anyway, probably, right, if some team is willing to overpay for Miller, maybe that's good enough for the Yanks.
