Game is changing. More teams are looking for guys that can be good for two times through the order instead of BoR innings eaters. Guessing a different type of pitcher will be getting the low end money.
It was the right move but I think people need to look at what Fiers did in June and July and appreciate him for it. Carried a beat up staff in a time of need and helped keep the team afloat... I'll always root for him going forward.
while evil capitalists take over the world, correa and his lovely soon to be wife, teach kids how to catch fish for survival and not business opportunity. http://abc13.com/sports/carlos-correa-trades-in-bat-for-fishing-pole-at-bass-pro-shops/2729288/ "as long as we're alive. we're going to go out and help."
According to the CNBC article below, Crane says our scouting department didn't even use computers when he took over https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/12/01...around-now-theyre-world-series-champions.html Maybe that's just an embellishment, I mean it was 2011. Regardless, it's crazy to see how far we've come. Our organization is in outstanding shape. Both now and in the future. I look around the league, and we have one of, if not the, brightest decades to come. Maybe LAD, CHC, or NYY has as bright an outlook for the next decade as HOU. Or maybe BOS or a sleeper big market like CWS/PHI, but you have to love where we are as an organization. Even if we didn't win the WS in 2017, Luhnow (and Wade...) did a fantastic job and JL will continue to build winners. Would love to pry Morrow from LAD (cool fact: Morrow is a Type 1 diabetic), but I think. I predict a quiet offseason, getting a LHP like Minor or Hand, and re-signing all arb-eligible players. No reason to go bonkers, especially with our farm depth. Last sidebar: the dumpster-fire Texans make me appreciate the Stros so much.
I think he was referring to just scouts and not everyone in the scouting department. It is surprising, but not an unbelievable statement that the scouts were still without laptops and tablets.
Tell me what's wrong with capitalism, you know a place where you can improve your life, as opposed to say Russia/Venezuela/Iran/Syria etc....
I was talking to one of the guys who works in the marketing department for the team and he described it this way... Before Crane took over the team was run like a family business. Now with Crane as owner the team is run like a Fortune 500 company. For instance, the number of employees in their marketing department has more than doubled since Crane took over I believe.
Anyone else beginning to wonder if any moves are going to be made? This time last year, we had already made 3 or 4.
LOL I've been waiting here for something to happen but everything is pending on Stanton and Ohtani. Could you imagine if the Giants land both players? Everything is pointing to Thursday or Friday of this week of activity will pick up with moves.
I read last week where the Astros were predicted to make two moves last week. Unless tendering 8 players was one move and non tendering Fiers was a second, that prediction was wrong.
that's probably not true at all - what he's likely trying to do is position himself to make a boatload of cash in 2 years.
He'll be under club control for 6 years - he's not even arbitration eligible in 2 years. If he waited in Japan, he could come as a free agent in 2 years and make far more.
