Just out of curiosity, has Alan Ashby made any comments about the championship. I wonder if it is bittersweet for him, or just sweet, just bitter, or indifferent. I reckon we will never truly know if he wants to get back in the business. Given that baseball players are more accustomed to being let go he’s probably good with it, but in the real world I would think people are generally bitter. Watching Mike Golic struggle with his recent breakup, though he got to keep his job, made me wonder about Ash and if he’s he felt left out, abandoned, or burned.

Darn...how will the Astros replace that .632 OPS and 8% caught stealing rate.

Bored? Here'e as article about Marwin Gonzalez taking more time between pitches than any other hitter with great quotes like:

Gonzalez: I wonder how far back my finger can bend
    Gonzalez: wow
    Gonzalez: Pretty far!
Gonzalez: I wonder if that’s too far
Gonzalez: I wonder if I need a doctor

Ive never really noticed Marwin and all the time he takes each at bat and pitch but man does he take a long time. As long as hes on this team, Ill just be in denial about it. Ill just stick to noticing the times he comes through when the team needs him most.

That is still a lot better hitter than Humberto Quintero or JR Towles and a better thrower than Hank Conger.

MLB.com has been having a best of 2017 Statcast series the past few days.
Correa has the homer with the highest launch angle.
Correa hit the most inside pitch for a homer.
Gurriel had the longest home run trot at 157 seconds (he stood on second base during review of hit for a couple of minutes originally ruled a double).
Correa had most hits in postseason on 99 mph+ pitches at 4. Most hits 99+ in regular season was also 4.

I'm just tired of them taking our old players that I would normally like and now I have to hate them. It's kinda like the Utah Jazz with me...once a player wears that uni, they're dead to me.

I fully anticipate with total turgidness watching Fister pitch against the Stros next year. Multiple times.

I don't care what uni he wears as long as it isn't an Astros uni.

This Marlins firesale is gonna be interesting to watch unfold. Would love to add Yelich or Realmuto, wonder what they’d cost.

Yelich is the guy I would want if Marlins traded him. Astros would likely need Tucker and Alvarez as main part of the deal and still need another decent piece. 5 years of control over a near All Star in his prime at a very low cost is extremely valuable.

Ozuna is more likely to be traded. He's great as well. Alvarez and something else would likely be close to his price. Astros are likely close to their budget and may need to move someone like McHugh to add him.

Anyone around Berkman long enough disliked him. Not to mention that he was incredibly lazy and didn’t really put much effort out for preparation. I remember hearing him going on one of his b****ing fits about steroid users before a game (one of the few times he did anything pregame). After he strolled off the Astros bullpen coach looked at the catcher and said “He wouldn’t take anything because it would take too much effort.”

Lance had a very nice career but would have been a first ballot Hall of Famer if he had half the work ethic of Clemens or Pettite or Biggio or Bagwell. I saw those guys (especially Clemens) running and working on things an hour before anyone any of the other players were on the field and 2-3 hours before MMP let fans in. There were only a broadcaster or two roaming around, coaches and me and my partner getting the left field score board up and running.

That is the question and I am not so sure they are close to their budget. It will be an interesting off season and I am fine with either tact they take; but I think they might strike while the iron is hot and add someone of real substance.

A lot of it is going to depend on what Crane wants to do, and what the other owners in his group agree to.

Maybe we can center a deal around Marisnick, Martes, and Moran...

Interesting. Never heard/knew of that before. Seems a bit counter-intuitive too...I’ve always thought switch hitting was one of the hardest things to master in any professional sport. Makes absolutely no sense. Like, it’s hard enough as is to hit professionally from one side. Two? GTFO.

One of the main reasons I didn't care Lance. He admitted after he left Houston that he really didn't put his all into it but worked super hard for the cardinals. GTFO
