Read it was Yanks, RSox, Dodgers and Angels who were going for it, pretty much the high rollers. Side note, the dude sounds kind of like a jerk as he dumped the agent who got him out of Cuba for the Hendricks.

    From JJO's twitter...

Ortizonbaseball The Astros are expected to announce a few minor-league deals later this afternoon. Hawkins, who has had an offer, is priority target now.

    From Footer's twitter...

alysonfooter Ed talked to Tejada's agent today. Ed is certain a deal will not be done. Length of contract is the sticking point.

    also....

alysonfooter Ed also indicated there are a couple of clubs "we might have matches with on trade possibilities."

So something may be brewing shortly...what impact is the question?

I meant for bench roles while going Johnson & Manzella to start. I'd like Maysonet at 2nd, but I doubt Matsui gets traded, and think he should start in case we can trade him during the season if he plays at his 2008 level.

Man I dont know if i can stomach another season of Blum getting massive reps at third again. Oh well, atleast we aren't making bad investments to replace him

Some signs point towards the Astros not going with Chris Johnson. Didn't Wade say he would be happy with the Bluminger experiment should they not find someone else?

I don't think he needs to find anyone else. I think Johnson gets his chance in ST to make the team. I hope he makes it, though I'd bet he ends up at RR.

I doubt any of them make it. Majewski could if he channels his pre-Reds days. Chris Shelton is probably the best of the bunch, but as a backup 1B, his odds are low. He would need to show he is capable of multiple positions.

Majewski is a local St. Pius grad. Hopefully he can turn back the clock.

WOW...I wonder who the Braves would want from the Stros considering they are desperate to get rid of both. I would be ESTATIC if Lee(No-Trade Clause would be waived of course) could be moved since they need an outfield bat badly but would be the complete opposite if they look to move Pence for this package. I know Wade said earlier today that a few trades could be lining up shortly so things are looking mighty interesting.

Haha I think he was talking about Randy Wolf, who is expected to sign a 3 year deal with Milwaukee.

this organization is getting sad fast. signing or not signing latroy hawkins is not news, no matter how much the front office imbeciles want to believe or force us to believe that it is.

Doing nothing and not overpaying/letting our free agents walk is the BEST thing this organization can do. Let's start looking for the future, and that's what this offseason seems to be about!
