If you're jacking with us, we're going to cyber-b****-slap you. Why would CWS trade both of their studs?
i don't think that's it, necessarily. i think this makes staying at home that much more attractive to Andy. another 200 inning eater.
wow.....not to mention, Hirsh would be more than sufficient if clemens decides to do the 1/2 year thing again
Look..that plus the addition of Carlos Lee. You're talking about a legit NL Champ favorite. Not necessarily the consensus pick...but very, very legit.
If the rumored deal is correct (willie T and buckholz)...it doesnt make sense....why would they want willie if they have podsednik?
Pods is the left fielder for Chicago. He does not play center. They had Brian Anderson patrolling center. Now he and Willy will be their lf and cf respectively.
I googled him. I found this: http://marlinsminors.mostvaluablenetwork.com/marlins-top-30-prospects/29-lincoln-holdzkom and this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Holdzkom Nothing outstanding (except that he was a child piano prodigy and appeared on the tonight show with Johnny Carson in 1988)
With his blazing 97mph fastball (before TJ surgery), scouts have designated him as either a future closer or most likely a dominant set-up man. Along with the fastball, Holdzkom has a hard-breaking curveball. While he does have closer type stuff, some in the organization have wondered if his makeup is right for closer. He has been known to have trouble with command when coming in to close games. When entering the 7th or 8th inning, he appeared much more stable and consistent on the mound. A bit of a wild child ala former Marlins pitcher A.J. Burnett, Holdzkom has nipple rings and tattoos which at times, have led scouts to believe he is not all that interested in baseball. Lincoln insists he wants to be a major league ballplayer. After ending his rehab he pitched with the GCL Marlins and Jupiter Hammerheads, trying to build stamina. He probably starts out 2006 back in Jupiter but could see action in Double A and possibly the majors if he pitches well.
Don't know if this has already been mentioned in this thread. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/scorecard/12/07/truth.rumors.mlb/1.html According to two industry sources, a proposed deal had Orioles pitcher Rodrigo Lopez headed to Houston, Astros outfielder Luke Scott going to Detroit and the Orioles getting Marcus Thames, who would have become the Orioles' only righthanded-hitting outfielder and the club's likely starter in leftfield. However, the deal hit stumbling blocks late last night and might not be revived. -- Baltimore Sun
