Nevermind...I'm not arguing about a player and a trade that has nothing to do with the Astros. I think most would agree that it's a pretty good deal.
This guy has paid zero attention to the Astros this offseason, they've made it obvious to anyone with 2 eyes & 5 minutes time to read. Funny.
The hottest commodity that people will overpay for is pitching. The strength of the astros' system is pitching. We dont have any top pitching prospects but if we are able to showcase them next year, maybe we can get someone to bite. It would be a step backward to trade away any of them when their values arent high. The boston/new york santana trade shows how top pitching prospects alone arent gonna get you anything. The Garland trade, showed you what an established pitcher can get you. The best thing we can do is sit on our hands and develop these pitchers for 1-2 years. Who knows, we might have a legit #2 in our system. Just because the uber biased prospect ranking doesnt say we have one doesnt mean it isnt possible.
This gave me a chuckle at first, but kudos man. Seriously. Most people on the Internet would engage in a ten-page flame war, backing up their argument with all kinds of poor logic and of course much ad hominem. Second time in a week I've observed this rare phenomenom here. Must be Christmas season.
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,501031208-552174,00.html Any chance Matsui plays shortstop and Burke is our second baseman? Or no chance at all?
No chance. Wade is trying to improve our defense up the middle. Removing Everett while playing Burke at second makes our defense worse, not better.
Fox Sports Article Here is an article that has us looking at / possible suitor for Joe Nathan and afraid to trade with the Rockies (Burke) after the Jennings deal.......
Interesting. He's certainly good. I wonder what it will take to get him, though. Would they want Burke & Scott + prospects?
The article does not say the Astros are afraid to trade with the Rockies. It says that the Rockies fear the Astros won't deal with them due to the Jennings trade.
Peavy close to resigning... another ace off the market. for 3-4 years at least http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7518156?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=49
Maybe at the end of 4 years, we can sign Peavy and extend Oswalt to contracts that'll end their careers in Houston together. They both say they want to play together.
Damn, even if we are able to trade for Nathan, can you imagine how much it will cost to keep him. Thank you Reds and Yankees for establishing a ridiculous precedent on Closer salaries.
