I wasn't paying attention to the year. The season after they were "screwed over by Beltran", they went to the World Series.
Nothing earth shattering so far? It's still November. The winter meetings haven't even happened yet. I'm not saying something big is going to happen, but at least wait until January before you start whining like a little girl.
You can have mine. I've been a Houston fan for so long I'm fed up. Have some 8$ beers while your at it. Maybe you and the 8$ beer video guy can sit together and whine about the worlds problems while the Astros/ Rockets/ Texans almost make it again.
And what did all of this give us? 4 games and out in a World Series?! Embarrasing! Ed Wade? WOOHOO! Go drink some more 8$ beer. I'll stay home and watch it on TV.
Aggressiveness got us CB (good move) then got us Whoa I got a Woody, Jennings, losing Tavaris. The Astros will do just enough to keep the fans buying season tickets. Wait till they lose a few more seasons then I will get better seats.
Keep drinking the Astros Kool-Aide. Go buy some season tickets. I hear they still have some seats in the club section where you can't see the score board.
yeah waiting until the winter meetings begin before making conclusive statements on a team's offseason is clearly drinking the kool-aid!
Yeah, I'd much rather be the Royals. But, no, let's not steer away from your original point: "I'm throwing a titty-fit and I'm not going by any more tickets because the Astros never sign big names!!! Waaaa! Waaaaaaa!!!! WAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!" List of big names provided, four out of the last five years no less, and you respond by shifting the discussion. Nice. How about, "Oh. I was wrong." Nah, keep doing what you're doing. It's entertaining; we all need to watch a good pre-juvenile Internet meltdown from time to time.
How lame comparing us the the Royals. The Royals have been to the series twice and won one. The Twins and Blue Jays have better history than us. I was watching Houston sports when you were in diapers. I'm tired. 1980, 1986, 90s where Bagwell was a great regular season player, but always choked in the playoffs. The Astros are an average team and will be until they get the farm system going true again. Just because I'm living in reality about our team doesn't make me any less of a fan. A guy opens up lets off a little steam about his frustration around Houston sports (and don't talk to me about soccer and minor league hockey) and all you guys can do is start the name calling?! You guys call me juvenile when you can't even take a little criticism about your team. UNREAL!
want some cheese to go with your fantastic WHINE? there is a difference between criticism and whining like a teenage girl.
Ah, assumption. The playground of Internet arguments. I watched those playoff seasons as well as the near-misses in '79 and '81. Terry Puhl and Jose Cruz were my favorites. So, by all means, subject all of us to your exhausted (and exhausting) hissy fits. Agreed. "Living in reality?" You claim they never sign big names, the *reality* that they have is thrown in your face, so you shift gears without acknowledging your inaccurate whinings, you complain about getting to a World Series because the team went four and out. It's not the honest opinion of yours that the Astros are mediocre that I'm poking fun of (because I currently agree with you), it's the whole "WAAAA!!! WAAAA!!! I'm tired! I'm cancelling my season tickets!!! I'm living in "reality" while you can keep buying $8 beer! WAAAAAAAAAA!" that I'm making fun of. I never offered commentary on your status as a "fan". Please find where I called you a name. Thanks. Sure I can take criticism about my team. In fact, I agree with some of it. But, I didn't call you "juvenile"; I called your stupid hissy fit pre-juvenile. Perhaps I should have used, "prepubescent". At any rate, speaking of who "can't even take" what, if you're going to post your rants, be prepared for those rants to be commented on and criticized. Waaaaaaaa.

Declaring that they are awesome would be "drinking the Kool-Aid".

Predicting postseason success (or even *getting* to the postseason at this point) would be "drinking the Kool-Aid".

Stating that Ed Wade is awesome or has done a tremendous job, all of two months into his tenure, would be "drinking the Kool-Aid".

But saying, "let's wait until at least the Winter Meetings before arriving at any judgment on this offseason" is "living in REALITY".
And I (and a few others) have been watching the Astros since they were the Colt .45s. For the past 14 seasons, they have finished 1st or 2nd in the division 12 times. While they have not made the playoffs or had poor performance in the playoffs, they have been in a playoff race 12 out of 14 years. That is a pretty good success rate. If you are so down on Houston sports teams, start rooting for those in Boston.
Seems the Astros have acquired Jose Cruz Jr ............ Wow . http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=txastroscruz&prov=st&type=lgns
Way too late IMO as well . You never know . Maybe hes Scott's replacement because they may move him in a trade . He has to be better than OP . That guy was pretty much useless last year .
