So what I'm hearing, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that if the Astros can "manage" Contreras just right, we will essentially have not 1 but 2 Yordan Alvarez' in our lineup.

I remember the Mitch Meluskey one-season era enough to not want to return to it. All-offense, bad defense catcher doesn't lead to success.

Also, never count on offense from a 30+ year old catcher. They fall off the cliff, fast. It's a bad bet. And the damage is already done regardless if they switch positions later. Look at Mauer - they moved him to 1B at 31 and his number still plummeted.

Hopefully but he still might be mad that Houston beat Harper and the Phillies lol. He's a huge Harper fan.

 

At this point I think Judge goes to the Giants. There's gonna be a bad back lash or they are gonna find a way to blame someone else

 

Hopefully Judge does end up going to the Giants. Would be a massive blow to the Yankees that Rodon won’t cure and the Giants still have a lot of holes even with Judge.

 

I love this. I really hope Judge leaves NYY. They have no plan. Why would any GM say this out loud?

Oops! That 5.1 is Nimmo. Contreras is 3.9 so 57%. Still a 3.7 WAR improvement.

 

I like Contreras. I really like Contreras. But I wouldn’t go more than 4 years.

 

I wouldn’t go more than two years on any catcher about as dumb as giving a HB a long term deal.

 

How’s he going to DH with Alvarez at DH 100+ games? Plus he doesn’t hit left handed so the lineup is not balanced.
