Can't say he hasn't earned it. I think he has a huge year this year with no restrictions coming off TJ surgery.
I am not entirely confident on anyone player being a for sure thing.... I think Contreras is probably 50% at this point and then Benintendi at 33%... with guys like Rodon, Bellinger, Kluber, Mike Minor being less than that.
He does, but let's see what offers he ends up getting. If he doesn't get an offer in the 5-6 year range, that opens it up for the Astros.
You're hoping for lightning to strike twice. Not likely to happen. Keep making improvements to the offense.
Nimmo has also had over 325 at bats ONCE in his 8 seasons. Dude can't stay healthy. No way I would commit 9 figures to him. Great skill set for what we need, but NO WAY
I'm seeing 6 years 180 million. So I'm with you on that, hard pass. Rodon hasn't built up my trust level to that degree, not even close. You stand a better than 50/50 chance that that is a terrible contract in the end.
We have depth in AAA, plus we can always convert Abreu if needed. SP is not an area of even mild concern.
Yeah I don't understand why anyone would want to throw money at an almost guaranteed to be injured player. Sign Brantley for next to nothing if you're going to go that route.
Just thinking about this, we won the World Series with arguably the worst bullpen in playoff history and the greatest bullpen in playoff history. Speaking strictly in terms of playoff performance. That's insane.
The primary advantage of Nimmo is his ability to play CF. Benentendi, Conforto and Brantley are LF/DH only. There is something to be said of versatility.
He is around 30 years old and has been dominant the last two seasons, and his advanced stats are exceptional. I wouldn't give him 6 years at 180 million but I would strongly consider 4 years based on his age, his performance the last few years and his dominance.
Philles address their SS weakness Jeff Passan on Twitter: "BREAKING: Shortstop Trea Turner and the Philadelphia Phillies are in agreement on a contract, a source tells ESPN." / Twitter
Because he has upside of a star player and can be had for half of what that would normally cost. He could effectively be a core piece to extend the window and help a ton this season. He's had 2 seasons over 500 PA, and made it through the pandemic season, so he doesn't miss significant time "every" season, but yeah he's a big risk. One I'm not sure we should take, but I would get it if we did.
So when is the Astros' big breaking news? When is Judge signing with the Astros? I'm going to step away from the refresh key.
The pen wasn't terrible in the 17 playoffs though, Ken Giles was The rest of them were pretty good outside of WS game 5. McHugh, Peacock and Devenski all got ripped in game 5, outside of that McHugh and Peacock were good. Gregerson and Harris were good Game 5 skews the numbers, but what a game!
Jesus f**king christ. His game is not gonna age well, I bet that will be an ablatross before it's even halfway through. Correa has to get 300 million if Turner could get that...right?
No doubt the skill set is great I just think for a team that might get to or just above the tax, but isn't going to blow past it year after year, the risk is too much
