I could see Houston looking at Buddy Reed in the Rule 5 draft. High ceiling player, who if everything breaks right could be a stud defensive CF with 20/20 offense. Elite speed, arm, and glove with plus raw power but poor current on-base skills. I have seen Marisnick comps and think he could be a rich man’s Marisnick if he hits his peak, but even in the worst case he is probably an upgrade over Straw as a 4th OF.
Straw hit better in minors and career MLB numbers are comparable to Buddy Reed's career minor league numbers. Reed may be the better defender. Considering they are only a year a part, there are many scenarios that Straw is and will be the better player.
Why? I may disagree with you a lot, but I don't find your posts offensive. If Buddy Reed is selected by Astros in the Rule 5 Draft and surpasses Straw in career fWAR, I will honor your request. Please let me know if this happens.
Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the White Sox are "extraordinarily unlikely" to sign free agent outfielder George Springer. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/st...ree-agency-trade-rumors-latest-offseason-buzz
While that report is probably accurate, it's also accurate that I'm extraordinarily unlikely to give a flip what anyone at BSPN has to say about anything. Or the Unathletic. Pucker up, "journalists": (_|_)
Maybe they'll hire Beltrán back, and BSPN can carry on their hypocritical love affair with all things NYC/Boston.
Texas traded Lance Lynn to the White Sox for a prospect (Dunning). One reporter said the Rangers will receive another player and a different reporter said it'll be another young pitcher.
White Sox are going to be good. That’s a decent return for the Rangers but they have such a long way to go.
