Yeah but Marwin is locker room gold. Owner, GM and manager like Marwin ... at the right price ... or the owner would not be talking about him. If Marwin is signed, there has to be another move to trade Diaz.
I dont think it does. I just think he doesnt wanna got past a 7 yr deal. I believe there is an offer out there the Crane would take it just doesnt seem he would go higher. Also note Realmuto doesnt prefer West coast teams. Also prefers to play atleast 1 yr with his new ball club before extension.
If I had to guess, top offers right now for Marwin and DK are somewhere in the ballpark of like 4y/30m and 4y/75m, and that estimate is probably a tad generous with this market. Both are clearly unsatisfied with the offers and are holding out for the market to ramp up after Harper/Machado. I doubt HOU has made an offer to either. I think HOU is going to just match the top offer at the end of the day if it's within their range. Pollack obviously has injury problems, but him signing for 4y/50m does not help Marwin in the least. All in all, everything is pointing to a major labor dispute, and it'll hit the fans the hardest if it results in a strike. It's been a very weird offseason. We're, what, 2.5 weeks from ST starting up and several major free agents haven't signed. I'd *love* to know what offers are actually on the table. But with like 75% of teams not wanting to spend a dime, I see why the players are upset.
Thought this was interesting even though I’d like to see more info in detail. Also not sure if this includes players that were traded that made it to the bigs.
I’d be very surprised if Marwin has an offer over $20M guaranteed. Asdrubal Cabrera, a VERY similar player, just signed for $3.5M/1yr.
Per Tal’s Hill: Even though he appeared to be skirting the issue of naming players, he continued the conversation later mentioning Keuchel and Gonzalez. “Dallas is still out there — I don’t think he’s signed yet, and Marwin either,” Crane said. “Both great players and great for the franchise. They did a lot of work here and we appreciate what they did. They’re always welcome. Maybe something will work out there. Who knows?” Jim Crane wasn’t the only top brass that discussed the topic last night. Astros’ GM Jeff Luhnow touched upon it in a round-about way. “We’ve had interest in both of the players and they know it,” Luhnow said. “Obviously they both were critical parts of our success the last six years. We’d love to keep them in the family. But that’s something I can’t talk about.” Starting to feel like it’s not lip service. Not sure how I feel about it. Maybe the Astros are able to bring them back on team friendly deals. Maybe it sets up a trade or two with say Reddick and or Yuli if Marwin is back. I’m just spitballing here.
