Depending on the prospects being discussed, I'd agree. If the price of poker for more "blue chip" prospects is paying more of his deal, count me in.

Not thinking 2011 is going to be a year we're in contention as it is. Forecasting talent for the future is where our focus should be.

I can't wait for baseball season. Holy crap. Baseball is the one sport I can enjoy fully even when my team is in the crapper. I still love going out to MMP. I still love watching the game, itself. Watching these Texans games currently is a bit like getting a root canal...and leaves me wondering why I do it voluntarily.

They were actually a decent team in the 2nd half and finished with a respectable record for the talent that they were putting on the field.

Not to mention its great they they have realized that they need to get younger and develop the farm system.

Now we get to watch these young players come through the minors and see them develop on the major league level.

I don't mind watching my team lose if its young players still learning the game. Unlike watching the Texans/Rockets who are expected to at least be playoff worthy.

Totally sucking is what the Rockets are doing this season.

did you miss this part of the very post you responded to??:

Baseball is the one sport I can enjoy fully even when my team is in the crapper.

How does that make me a fairweather fan, again??

The team is rebuilding, most of us have been begging for this to happen for years. We've sucked with a bunch of older veterans which is the worst kind of suck but now it's with some young blood and that makes all the difference in the world.

Exactly... we're die hard Astros fans, just like we're die-hard Texans and Astros fans. I haven't missed Rockets or Texans game this season either, and they're a combined 7 - 16. Oh, and I also watch the Texas Tech Red Raiders (when I can), and they're terrible also.

If you hang on during the low times, it makes the high times so much sweeter. And also... I can't turn my back on the hometown team.

If you don't want to talk about the Astros because they "suck," why are you posting in here, other than to troll?

Baseball is the only game I can sit and watch even when getting blown out, not sure why. If the rockets are down by 20-30 or the Texans are getting blown out (like against the Giants) I have no problem flipping the channel. :p

Sandy Alderson, the new GM of the Mets, was on the MLBNetwork and had some interesting quotes about his team...

@JimBowdenXMFOX: Sandy Alderson "we need to add depth to our starting rotation and the bullpen, that is our priority"

@JimBowdenXMFOX: Sandy Alderson: we have no untouchables but I would not see us moving Ike Davis, David Wright and Jason Bay

Now, notice Jose Reyes was not one of the names on the list. Should the Stros consider a Wandy Rodriguez for Jose Reyes deal? It fits both agendas, Reyes could move to second or Barmes could and add some big time defense to both positions. Wandy could fit in nicely into their rotation plus they where already after him at the deadline last year.

    Bourn
    Reyes
    Pence
    Lee
    Johnson
    Barmes
    Wallace
    Castro

Look at that speed at the top of the lineup, that would create all kinds of trouble for pitchers.

Ive heard several reports that the Mets would be open to dealing Reyes...not sure what his contract is (i think its pretty high)...and DM has already said that his payroll will be less than it was last year, however I think its a deal that makes sense for both sides.....

The Mets made a killing with the Dominican signings thx to Omar...and maybe a few of them arent happy with his release?

All that said, dont be surprised if the yankees are also well aware of the Mets willingness to trade Reyes and perhaps thats why they arent bending over backwards to appease jeter

The Mets exercised his 11 million dollar option for this year, Wandy is due a nice raise in arbitration which could come out to 7 million. So, we are looking at only 4 million more...not to bad. Only thing is that Reyes' is playing in his contract year so no telling if he'd sign an extension here or test FAgencies next winter.

True, all their OBPs were low but Reyes had been consistently in the .350 range for his career. So your hoping for a nice rebound year for Bourn and the evolution of Pence to continue.

Yeah but with a new owner coming in, if Reyes has a quality year, I would think they would do what they needed to do to keep him
