This annoys me, I will assume the kid isn't healthy because a guy picked so high would normally sign for MUCH more but if he does get healthy the Rangers got a steal. Why didn't Wade/Smith not gamble a bit here, make the signing and if it doesn't work out then its a low cost move... http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/texa...96/rangers-come-to-terms-with-rhp-barret-loux
I cant say I saw that coming but on the other hand, A&M guy signing in-state and team coming off a WS appearance, I'm not shocked and nor can I blame him. Oh well...I guess.
I feel better.... keithlaw I've been told he needs two major operations. Glad he got paid RT @Albert_Ragland: @keithlaw what are your thoughts on Rangers signing Loux?
Zach Duke got designated for assignment tonight, I'm almost sure he is going to be a FAgent and refuse the assignment. This is a guy the Stros SHOULD be all over, a good pitching coach can help this guy get his act together and it wouldn't cost much at all.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-louxdiamondbacks080310 In the Diamondbacks’ eyes, Loux is damaged goods. Their medical staff’s customary MRI on Loux’s arm turned up two red flags. The first: Loux has a tear in his labrum, a shoulder injury that has ended careers. The second: Loux’s elbow, which had bone chips taken out in 2009, showed signs of eventually needing Tommy John surgery. I would not be surprised if this is the last time we will hear Loux's name in the national media.
Yea, I saw the tweet from Keith Law stating he will need two major procedures...doesn't annoy me so much.
If I were Ed Wade, I would take a look at signing Zach Duke. He was just let go by the Pirates. Still young at 27 years old, left-handed, and almost 1000 innings under his belt in the bigs. I think he is a guy who could flourish with a change of scenery. He could compete for the 5th spot in the starting rotation.
Not an attack on the Zach Duke idea, but just a random question. Is it unheard of for a team to start three lefties in their rotation? I remember us having some problems with that at the end of the year last year. We already have Wandy and Happ, and I know most managers like to break up their lefties, but if you start three of them, you're not going to be able to avoid starting back-to-back lefties.
I don't know if it's unheard to start three lefties but if they happened to be 3 of your best 5 starters than why not? I also think that Wandy could be moved at the deadline if this team is out of contention since he will be a free agent in 2012.
Colorado looking for a big bat. We've got a big, fatty they can have I wonder what we can get back from them if we take on a lot (all?) of Carlos' remaining contract?
Carlos Lee + 28 million for Delta Cleary (Single A prospect) http://www.minorleagueball.com/2010/1/16/1253995/colorado-rockies-top-20-prospects
So we could start looking forward for his replacement and so we could get decent prospects for rebuilding.
you're trolling the wrong league. the junior circuit has a special provision by which ****** has-beens who can only play half the game can continue padding their career statistics. perhaps we can quickly find a suitor there?
http://mlbbuzz.yardbarker.com/blog/...ospect_mccarthy_drawing_wide_interest/3657203 Not sure how well he'd fit being an extreme fly ball pitcher in MMP but worth a shot, dude has good stuff just needs to stay healthy (Sound familiar?).
