I'm all for trying to get him, since it's not my money. But I've heard the name "Kaz Matsui" thrown around in comparison to him. Read the below from Sports Illustrated. The first paragraph had me salivating. By the time I finished the second paragraph, I was in the fetal position on the floor, muttering, "anal fissures? anal fissures? ANAL FISSURES!"

Thanks for responding. Took me while to see this. I honestly don't want to trade ANYONE unless they brought back someone younger and cheaper. While I like Freddie Lewis, he's on the wrong end of 30. I'd definitely look into Murphy though.

I definitely wouldn't mind giving a minor league deal to Hermida, or a 1 year deal to Scotty P. Podsednik has some speed, too.

Astros have interest in Jeff Francis according to Jerry Crasnick. I like Francis if he is healthy but he has been injury prone. Still fairly young at 29. Worth a shot if you can get him with a one year deal with incentives. I think Wandy Rodriguez, Brett Myers, and J.A Happ are solid but after that who knows. Bud Norris and Felipe Paulino have showed flashes but they have been inconsistent.

@jcrasnick: Some teams that have expressed early interest in P Jeff Francis: Pittsburgh, Seattle, Colorado, Milwaukee & Houston.

@jcrasnick: Francis went 4-6, 5.00 in 19 starts, but if his shoulder is OK, a bunch of teams might take a 1-year flyer. It's a weak market after Lee

Also worth mentioning, Jason Bartlett is being shopped by the the Rays. Good defensive SS that would be an Adam Everett with a bit more offense.

Not fond of pitchers from Colorado but the guy at a 1 yr deal could be a steal. Sign me up.

Bartlett is like Adam Everett with A LOT more offense. I always liked him.

Uggla to the Braves is done, great get for the ATL. Infante and Dunn for Uggla.

@jcrasnick: Braves deal is complete. It's Dan Uggla to Atlanta for Omar Infante and Mike Dunn.

Wow I thought it would take a lot more than that to get Uggla. Infante is nice player but he has been a utilty player his whole career and Uggla has put up HOF numbers for a 2nd baseman in his first 5 years.

Agree, someone mentioned that being close to FAgency, not being a great fielder and big strikeout numbers might have limited the market.

TMZ does a bad job of "reporting" here.

How did they get he was interested in Houston from the video?

"How are we gonna get you to LA?!"

"You got a Houston hat on."

    "Matches with my shoes!"

Way to go TMZ. :p

Jason Bartlett is what I imagine Mier becoming like. Hopefully with a little more pop but very similar. I'd really like Bartlett on this team, hopefully we can pull a decent deal for him.

Can it be baseball season already.

    I can't stand much more Texans/Rockets.

    True baseball fan at heart.

The Sox had a 160 Million Dollar payroll, the second highest in baseball. Not reaching the playoffs is a complete failure. They paid Lackey 18.6 million last year and he was a 4th starter at best. They extended Beckett and he was terrible last year. Lets not pretend the Sox and Yanks aren't on a level playing field cause they both are, and the Yanks are doing better.
