Yeah, as I've said before, I'm pretty sure that you and yall don't have a ****ing clue what certain people did or said wrt the owner and his decisions. But you'll know what he's doing this year, right!? Yay for you! I look forward to your excellence!
Recruiting Abreu was not the issue. At the time of that action, almost everybody loved the addition for the Astros. Maybe they balked st the 3rd year, but that's about all. I doubt Bagwell had anything to do with how many years or how much money to give him. Players are people and nobody knows how they will perform in the future. I
True. And honestly the Abreu deal wouldn’t have been that big of a blow if it hadn’t also been combined with another ~$50M in dead money in 2024 between McCullers, Javier, Graveman, and Montero. Houston’s 2024 season is actually pretty impressive when you consider they spent ~$70M for which they got negative war in return.
Astros/Bregman relevant excerpts from Bob Nightengale’s latest USA Today article: – The Houston Astros would love to have Alex Bregman back on a six-year deal worth about $156 million, but Bregman is seeking a deal worth at least $200 million. -If the Phillies trade Bohm, they are expected to make a strong play for Alex Bregman, whose talent and personality would fit in perfectly with the team, or perhaps sign Willy Adames and move him over to third base. (Also mentions Bregman as a possibility for the Yankees if they miss out on Soto)
Angels have a chance to be pretty good if they get some good luck wrt health. They probably need to sign another ToR SP.
Maybe they just go with a youth movement at the bottom of the lineup: 2B Altuve SS Pena DH Alvarez RF Tucker C Diaz LF McCormick 1B Dezenzo CF Melton 3B Matthews Bench: Meyers, Dubon, Caratini, Singleton
If they start 3 rookies, 2 of them who have never been in MLB and have limited AAA experience, they better trade Framber and Tucker because they will probably be wasting their final season.
