LOVE this. Exactly the type of aggressive moves we'll have to make internationally to make up for losing our picks.

I like the first part. Taking responsibility. But I don’t think he can then retarget the blame onto the rest of the league. He has to leave that to an independent party otherwise he’ll come across unapologetic.

This interview only works if he reveals the entire truth because now he’ll be on record, publicly. Not just with Manfred. But to the press. Yet what a rock and a hard place. If he refuses to disclose the details he will be hiding and untruthful. If he lies and the truth comes out later, then he’s done forever. If he tells about more stuff going on he’s done forever anyway.

We need some lawyers... but Some hard hitting and trap questions might be...

Did you cheat? How did you do it exactly?
Did you cheat in 2019? When did you start, when did you stop?
What players cheated and who did not?
Did the pitchers cheat? Is Bauer right?
Did Altuve cheat on the Rivera and Kershaw home runs?
    Why didn’t you stop it?
Why did you lie at the press conference?
    Do you feel unfairly treated?
    Why did you do it?
How would you feel if the Yankees had done this to you, and the shoe was on the other foot?

"You mean how did I feel? Pretty damn good, because they were doing it, but we did it better."

You could ask certain people why the Yankees only scored 3 runs in 4 games at MMP in the '17 ALCS. Were we stealing their batting signs too?

One more thing on this part. Lance Armstrong and Alex Rodriguez both said that what happens after this interview is almost inevitable. It happened to them both. The baseball community will think it’s not enough and the casual fan will think it’s too much. It’s almost no win, but you have to do it.

But what a difference in the outcomes. Alex is scarred, but generally forgiven and has his life back. Lance is dead to the world.

No it’s a disaster waiting to happen. Astros baby..this is the nWo of pro baseball, brother 4 Lyfe.

I also love this Cuban signing. That’s as good as a 1st rd pick in my book. And probably well above slot value for that pick as well, so much for the notion Crane doesn’t spend. Astros own the international signing period for a number of years

Where would the Astros even play Pence?

he would be a 4th OF type. Speculation was that if they signed him they would look to move Reddick. He matches better platooning with Tucker and could spell some of the other OF positions if needed.

I'd think if they could have moved Reddick, they would have already? I don't think they need Pence to make that move.

True, but they just got a GM, so it's not like it's been business as usual all offseason

To me this is a bad move for Pence, he is at the point he needs to be a DH more than anything

I'm sure they would have been fine moving Reddick under the right circumstances without signing Pence. But, it is by no means a necessity as he would be able to platoon with Tucker or at worst be insurance if Tucker struggles. Getting rid of him without a corresponding move doesn't make the team better at this point, so holding on to Reddick makes more sense. If they were to sign Pence it makes moving Reddick a no brainer as Pence offers a better platoon partner (and assuming at a better cost) and provides the same insurance for injuries/struggles.

This assumes they can move him anytime they want. I believe, according to Nook, they've been trying to move him for the last year+ without success. If you can move him, you move him so that when the opportunity to take advantage of payroll flexibility arises, you have it. If they sign Pence and then learn they still can't move Reddick, they've got a problem.

Nobody is taking on Reddick's contract in full. You either give up a ton of prospects and/or eat a majority of the money. Only other possibility is Reddick being moved at the deadline to offset the Astros taking on a bigger contract. On the open market Reddick is worth 2 years 12 million at best. We are basically paying him double his market value.

The Astros can move Reddick anytime they want if they are willing to pay the price. Astros aren't going to send away prospects without a need. Though, the Rays were more stingy with prospects than the Astros.
