As soon as Wheeler gave up the triple, I flipped to a different channel and never went back to the game. Good thing I didn't, I most likely would have broken something.
This team is teetering on the edge of a disasterous follow up to a WS season. 1. Offense sucks - can't score against pitching that everyone else lights up. 2. Defense sucks - particularly in the outfield 3. Bullpen sucks - A closer who can't throw a strike, and middle relief more akin to throwing gas on the fire. This team needs help, whether it come from the bench, a trade, or the minor leagues, it desperatly needs help. DD
Wonder if that inning would've been any different had Taveras not overrun the ball letting the runner make it a triple instead of a double. I haven't been all that impressed with Willy lately. He's had a few defensive gaffes that have directly led to runs, he's batting .268, his OBP is an astounding .318 and he's swiped a grand total of five bases. How about Burke taking some time in CF? I'd like to see this lineup thrown out there: Biggio Burke Berkman Ensberg Wilson Ausmus Lane Everett
hahaha, reflecting/reflection pool i think.. damn, i wanted to dump some people in there last night. i took some serious heckling after the pen blew the game. But man, i figured if I got 2 different sections to start "Astros suuuuck" chants while staring at me, i musta done a good job earlier in the game
HEADS UP: the astros game is on 790 this afternoon instead of 740....740 is in full all Enron all the time mode.
i was there for the last 3 games...but no, i had a stros shirt and hat. A couple of people i was with had retro helmets.. I was in one of the outfield boxes a bit to the left of the foul pole in left field Wish I could go today, but I've taken off a good amount of time from work to make it to these games on time already the 1 pm thing just wouldn't work out right on a weekday
gonna need somethin to jump start against armas..he's been pretty solid this year--though not as much at home
Bingo. He was great in the field until the past couple of weeks. I have no idea what's going on with him. The play in Nieve's start was really, really tough - liner hit straight over his head & he misjudged it. He dropped a couple in MMP that were routine. I can definitely see Burke getting regular starts at LF/CF/2B soon (i.e. once his shoulder can take it). Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him play a ton over the next month, should be able to tell if he can help the club starting, or if they need to make a move before July 1. I like your lineup. Hell, I'd even consider putting Biggio in the 5 hole down the road if Burke can show something at the top of the order.
Oh, and things also would have been different if Lance had his **** (sorry DD) together on that ball Ward hit.
dammit already getting roughed up it seems.. blacked out on mlb.tv in this area so i can't watch it at work..
NO doubt about it Buck, I thought Lance misplayed that thing, when I was watching it too. It was just to him, all he had to do was get his body and glove in front of it and it was an easy double play. Our defense has been horrible this year, outside of Everet and Biggio. DD
do you know how to use a proxy? if you use one, i don't think it gets blocked out. Some games that are supposed to be blocked out for me i can still watch, and i heard it's because of the proxy.
And yet, we're still doing better than last year at this point. 1. The offense is nowhere near as bad as it was last year...mainly because of Berkman. You take away him and I'd agree with that statement. 2. The Defense I've felt has been pretty good..shaky at times yes...but up until the past week or so our outfielders had been pretty solid and our infield is comparable to any other contending team. Again, it certainly is no worse than last year. 3. Bullpen has been blowing games and needs to get it turned around. It looked like they were turning the corner but then regressed a little bit last night apparently. Remember though, Lidge had 3 consecutive 1-2-3 innings prior to last night. I think this is the one area where a shakeup might be required. Bullpen units usually don't stay intact for too long as most are journeyman pitchers. Just got find the right mix from one season to the next. Which is more of a reason to get Clemens on board and Backe back. 4. I'll also add that the starting rotation has continued to remain strong, as all have bounced back from their rocky previous starts. This team is slumping right now, but they don't DESPERATELY need help. I say mix the lineup a bit, work in Burke and/or Lamb (hell even Bruntlett like they're dong today) a little bit more to try and find a spark somewhere then see where the team stands around the all-star break. Remember this team has a history of playing better in the second half.
While true, this is irrelevant, this is a whole new year, and we don't have Roger Clemens, and although Roy has been great, the rest of the starters do not compare to last year. Especially Pettitt who has really struggled. This is a different year, and I don't see the team coming toghether for a run with the current lineup. At least when I put my Karnack glasses on...this team looks weaker up and down the lineup. With the exception of Berkman and Ensberg.......and until the last week or so..Ausmus. DD
