I H8 Springer Spaniel too. He effing sucks, & I wish he was suspended EVERY day. This Jason Lane crap has to stop. Burke's rotting on the vine while this jerkball wastes everyones time.
Why the hell was Springer in the damn game? He hadn't pitched in a game in a week and he doesn't ever pitch in close games. Its usually Lidge, Wheeler, or Qualls in this situation. Damn Russ, why can't you always be suspended or stayed retired.
Promote Hunter Pence. He couldn't be in any worse than Wilson, Taveras, and Lane. At least promote him to AAA. He gots power, speed, and can play any postion in the outfield.
What? According to MSN, it is a long season. Don't worry that we can't hit guys who are LIT up by everyone else. There is no problem, "These aren't the droids you are looking for...." DD
I don't think it is doom and gloom, I just believe in action when there are options on the bench which may help the team. DD
alright, so i was at this game too. sucked, obviously. a few things a) Nats fans are the QUIETest bunch i've ever heard. They were like "ehhh i guess i'll get up and try a little bit of noisemaking" when the "NOISE" sign was on the scoreboard. As soon as the sign disappered? DEAD silence. All of em stopped. Usually there's a residual cheer...NONE of that for the Nats. Of course, until the 9th inning when they had a chance at winning a game.. (and after the 2 homers in the 8th) But nothing they generated at all.. b) Ward's homer was about 8 columns of seats to the left of me and in the same row area. Insane after Berkman's was right on line and 10 rows below me.. sadly, I had JUST walked up through that section coming back from the bathroom. Literally, if I had stayed in the bathroom about 30-40 seconds longer, I would've been in the spot to catch his homer. And MAN would I have loved to chuck that crap back on the field in their home stadium.. c) Nats hitting is awful. But so is the Astros right now. No one can come up with a hit with RISP to save their lives.. so many "easy" opportunities (2nd and 3rd w/no outs!?) squandered.. It's sad when I'm cheering for Lane and Wilson to just "not strike out" (to his defense, Wilson has shown up so far in this series) d) I have no idea why Springer was in the game in a close situation. I don't think it's happened much before.. and I can't remember a time when Qualls and Lidge were rested and that still happened. Was Garner thinking "we'll only score 1, so then Qualls can have 9th/10th because Lidge needs to be in line for a save" ? That's the only reasoning I can think of...which is horrible managing.. ugh.
oh, one other thing. Some random Nationals fan saw my apparel and immediately started quizzing me about the Astros. I'm sure he didn't really know the answers to his questions, but once he was satisfied that I wasn't just a casual fan wearing the hat of the opposing team, he asked "so who's gonna win?" I said "Stros, easy!" Him: "Loyalty! I like that. You should come work for me. Do you know computers?" Random BSing from there on..pretty funny. Not that I took him seriously or anything.. But not to worry--I did us well as fans on the whole
bad news again guys.... working at 4 today. so roy o might have a tough time overcoming the curse of the bambino but good luck roy
you should of killed him and dumped him in that pool by the Washington monument. What's the pool called? I think it's the "Dump dead bodies in here pool".
I didn't hear this but a caller on charlie palilo's show last week said that tim purpura wants hunter to stay with the double AA team so they can learn to win together and get a AA championship. no kiddning.
Then where'd you hear it? Sounds really credible though. Winning is *one* of the things the Astros emphasize with their minor league affiliates.
