Gregg was definitely not on the Braves payroll. Other were, or so it seemed. He made the mistake of giving both teams the Atlanta strike zone and got pummeled for it by Atlanta fans of all people.Turner media would call it the NL strike zone, but they were the only team that usually got it.
“Peña said he was OK, of course,” Baker said. “Yordan wanted to stay in the game, but Yordan is not a guy you pick to run into. And neither is Peña. Both of them are well built, but they’re built differently. But strong.”
When the Astros Immovable object meets the Astros irresistible force, I just want both to come out uninjured.
Then again, No manager wins without talented players. With Dusty, he has won divisions with EVERY team he has coached (5). They had talent, but not all of them were the Giants with Bonds or the Current Astros.
One season. LOL. Just because someone hits 73 homers, doesn't mean the rest of the team is playing great. Arizona beat the Yankees that season in the WS. Giants finished 2 games back of the Diamondbacks. The next season, the Giants went to the WS with Bonds hitting 46 HRs.
Making the playoffs 4 times out of 10 with Bonds and Kent is only excusable if there is at least one title.
Only 4 teams made the playoffs in each league. It was much harder to make the playoffs. 3 division winners, 1 wild card. 1992, Giants won 103 games and missed the playoffs....come on. From 1997 to 2002, they finished 1st or 2nd in their division... winning 90 89 86 97 90 95 games. The NL West was a tough division with Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Padres also in it. We are not talking about about the current weak AL West that the Astros dominate.
