I have to agree with that but it only makes it slightly less awful. Whether it was Clark or CJ, you have to be sure in that situation. Edit: Clark had a family emergency. Maybe Pedrique and CJ had communications issues.
Apparently CJ is also ill and almost didn't play tonight. Let's see what they say after the game. It'll surely make a lot more sense.
Figgy shooting himself in the foot here, walking some of their lesser hitters... but induces the DP from Pelfrey to minimize the damage.
You nailed it. Unfortunately, 2 runs down to the Mets feels like more than it is, even if it's not Santana or Dickey out there. They make defensive plays left and right.
Figgy works around 5 BB and a HBP to produce a more than quality start. Too bad we didn't do more to get to Pelfrey in the 1st.
Oppo field hit for Wallace after a quality AB earlier. For some reason, I think he's going to start hitting well in the near future. I feel like he's seen enough pitches where it's going to start coming together.
2 more great defensive plays for the Mets. It was the infield in the last series. It's mostly the outfielders tonight.
Stros have something going, knock Mr. 102 out of the game (the gun only showed him at 98 tonight). Wallace with a big opportunity. He also had one early in the game with the bases loaded but struck out.
Sanchez with a good AB but a couple of close calls didn't go his way. Mills goes to Manzella over Castro to get a RHB. This would be big for Tommy.
Manzella strikes out looking. Too many mistakes, missed opportunites and defensive gems by the Mets in this game.
Too bad Angel was behind the plate, too. Ump Angel Campos starts calling ankle high strikes to end 'Stros rally.
It's like with one out left and two on base he said, "nah you guys can have this one." I mean for real----Manzella????? What, was the bench *that* empty??
Well, even though it's a small sample size, Tommy has hit LHP well: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?n1=manzeto01&year=2010&t=b#plato .348 AVG/.825 OPS before that last AB Q has a paltry .127 AVG/.303 OPS against LHP in a similar sample size: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?n1=quinthu01&year=2010&t=b#plato We had already used Michaels and Bourgeois so there really wasn't much else to do other than go lefty on lefty with Castro.
