Well Maton in to close it for the Rangers. Still can't believe they didn't get a closer at the deadline.
I am confused. Are the Astros good or do they suck? Or somewhere in between. Will they go to the playoffs or fight the Athletics for last place?
I would take Devin Williams in the Astros bullpen right now. The Yankees issue isn’t Williams or Boone. Their GM and the organization has grown soft with George dead and the Yankees GM having been there for decades.
Yainer has zero plan when he walks into the box, like zero at all. He has the Evan Gattis level of caveman intellect as a hitter. However his natural talent level and bat speed is too good to keep him down for 400-500 at bats… at least now, when his skills erode he is screwed unless he really adapts - which so far he hasn’t, he is the same guy that the Astros got from Cleveland a handful of years ago.
Yes, we are all aware of his shortcomings which are nothing like the last catcher before him. I thought it was nice to post something positive about his season so far for a change.
He has absolutely no discipline at all. Makes Justin Maxwell look like Lance Berkman with the swing decisions. but after watching Astros catchers try to hit for the majority of my life, I’ll just take it
I completely agree but was kind of a weird gameplan. They let Blumcock throw 5, he was pitching well and I’m guessing they didn’t expect him to go that long, but after that I kinda thought with the lead they wouldn’t throw both the high leverage guys. Not complaining I just found it a little strange.
Blum was saying Yanier's approach improved when he started hitting the fastballs to CF/RF and pulling breaking balls. I bet Yanier ends up with a 260-270 BA which is outstanding for a catcher.
Yeah so I don’t get why people b**** and moan about him so much. I mean I get why, bc if he’s just exercised the slightest bit of restraint he could be one of the best hitters in the league, but still. People were throwing him in the mix in the random Astros trade thread like he was the filler Halloween candy. I don’t get it.
I'm talking about the Mariners, they are not losing much these days. they are a classic example of a team that's getting hot, perhaps at the right time.
What are the chances he gets DFA'd? When a player is DFA'd after the trade deadline, are the options only releasing the player or putting them on waivers? It'll never happen but it would be funny if he got released and he signed with the Astros and they immediately fixed him.
